YEAR 6 YOUNG ENTERPRISE SCHEME We Want To Win!

YEAR 6 YOUNG ENTERPRISE SCHEME
Dear Parents - We Need You!
Our Year 6 pupils would like to inform you about an exciting business
enterprise initiative they are involved in this term.
BACKGROUND:
In competition with the other Wishford schools, our Year 6 are currently in the process of
planning and honing their ideas to create a business concept for a product or service to
generate money - a bit of a mix between “The Apprentice’ and ‘Dragon’s Den’.
A Wishford generated competition, the teams from each school are being given start-up
funds from a backer who himself was a ‘Dragon’s Den success story. Jordan Daykin is
now the proud owner of his £10million company, GripIt and he has offered to do for today’s
Wishford Schools’ Year 6 pupils what his grandfather, Stanley did for him. He will help
them get on the entrepreneurial road by encouraging them through this exciting Wishford
Schools Enterprise Competition. The final prize of £1,000 is to be funded by Jordan and
the presentation made to the winning school at the Wishford Weekend in June.
RATIONALE:
We consider this to be an amazing opportunity for our budding Year 6 entrepreneurs. It fits
in with all our teaching on building future leaders encompassing concepts such as
resilience, perseverance, collaborative working and a whole raft of other skills to prepare
and equip them for a future world of work. They have split themselves into four teams to
plan their different money-raising ideas.
We Want To Win!
SUPPORT NEEDED:
We can only win by making more money than the other Wishford school groups. We are
allowed to ‘trade’ over a 24 hour period, which for us will be from 11.00am on Thursday
30th March and finish at 11.00 am on Friday 31st March, the day we break up for Easter.
We will be arranging and hosting various events throughout this time. Our time slot takes
in the Dance Show when ‘Slickerish’ will be selling refreshments which will then be
followed by our big event, “St David’s Got Talent’, run by ‘Starstruk Productions’. This
‘not to be missed’ extravaganza will begin at 7.00pm and end by 9.00pm.
More details and tickets will be available shortly.
Another team, ‘Play ’n’ Trade’ will be selling collectables, ‘Slickerish’ will be selling
sweets and other treats, whilst ‘Blue Whale Wash’ plan to run a car washing service.
Come and relax with a newspaper and coffee in the cabin while your car is lovingly
cleaned!
More details will follow but please, please keep the date and help Year 6 WIN!
