Dear Parents/Carers,
Giralang Primary School will be providing a lunch time riding opportunity. The program will
be connected to content that has been taught within classes during the Safe Cycle Program.
The practical riding opportunities will encompass riding on bike paths within the area and
on appropriate tracks identified by the Ride and Walk to school program.
Students will need to prove a level of riding proficiency and successfully complete a bike
safety check before leaving school grounds. Please Note: students who fail to demonstrate
a level of proficiency and/or do not complete the associated bike safety check will be unable
to embark on the provided riding activities.


Venue: Giralang Primary School and surrounding bike paths
Dates and times: Practical lessons will run during Thursday lunch times
Students will be actively engaged in riding a bike on and around the school grounds,
learning how to ride in a group and be active in bike games. Students are encouraged to
bring their own bike and helmet, however if students do not have their own equipment
there are limited bikes and helmets available from the school. These will be issued to
students who have been selected by their classroom teacher. Those students who return
their notes first will have priority. If students do bring their own helmet it requires its
original Australian Safety Standard sticker (AS/NZS2063) to be affixed to the helmet,
otherwise students cannot use it for any school biking activities.
The program will be supervised by Mark Bormann and Katrina Ireland and will be run
depending on weather and availability of correct supervision. If you have any concerns
please feel free to contact the two organising teachers.

the school grounds in association with the schools Safe Cycle and Ride and Walk to School

My child will follow all instructions given by instructor/teacher and abide by the
