2nd Grade Rec Team Playing League Rules
This age group plays 1 - 4v4 game with no goalkeepers. You should play 2 - 20 minute halves. However you have the field for
an hour, so if you have larger teams you can play 2 - 25 minute halves, which gives you an extra 10 minutes. If you want to do
that, the coaches should talk about it, and agree before the game is started.
Normally the home team (the one listed first) will wear Red, the other team will wear White. However I believe that the
Tiburon teams have red jersey's, so if that's the case, the Corte Madera teams will wear white. For those Corte Madera players
needing uniforms, simply go to T&B Sports in San Rafael. Tell them your with Corte Madera Soccer, and they will give you a
jersey with a number on it. The jersey is covered by your registration fee, but you'll need to purchase the black shorts and red
socks if you don't have them.
Remember in this format a coach from each team is stationed at a different end of the field. Essentially your job is to oversee
the game. When the ball rolls out of bounds, simply roll in another one. There are no throw-ins, kick-ins, etc. When you do put
the ball back into play just roll it to the nearest defender. So that the players have a chance to move the ball upfield, you may
want to tell the other team to back up a bit. Your most important job is to make sure the kids are safe. At this age there is really
not much to do. There is the occasional "two players running into each other" scenario. In this case just blow your whistle, and
give the ball to the team that's farthest from their goal.
There is no offsides, so please discourage "basket hanging", and please try and keep players from being goalkeepers. At this age
one or two will invariably try to stand in front of the goal. While it's not critical, it does tend to go against what were trying to
do.
