In 2017, Universal Studios Japan will offer a dazzling array of attractions and entertainment one after
another under the theme “beyond ‘over-the-top’” from Friday, March 17, pushing our limits to bring more
excitement than ever for our 15th anniversary! This press release provides all you need to know about Minion
Park, the world’s largest area themed on the extremely popular Minions, creating a massive sensation
worldwide. The new area is slated to open on Friday, April 21, 2017.
Children and Adults Alike Can Enjoy Minion Mayhem Experiences at the World’s Largest
Minion-themed Area The Whole Picture of Minion Park to Be Unveiled
The world’s largest Minion Park is home to shops and a food cart staffed by unpredictable and hilarious
Minions, offering a constant succession of street shows. At Minion Park, the world’s largest Minion-themed
theme park, guests encounter a plethora of Minion Mayhem happenings just by strolling on the street. They
burst into unconscious laughter when they find traces of the Minions’ failures or mischiefs anywhere in the area.
Minion Park is divided into three areas. The EAST SIDE comprises a confectionary factory converted from a
warehouse and a downtown area where the Minions’ favorite boutiques stand side by side. The WEST SIDE is
a Minion Mayhem shopping zone created by Minions endowed with incredible abilities. The Minion Mayhem
Ride*2 which is also the supervillain Gru’s home/laboratory, is situated at the back with two other attractions
located on either side.

street show called Minion Mayhem

At Minion Market Place on the
WEST SIDE, guests can enjoy
shopping, immersing themselves into
the world of Minions at eight
shopping facilities revitalized by
Minions with their insatiable
curiosity and abundant inventive
ideas.
Banana Cabana is an extremely
exciting game venue. Here, guests can
enjoy playing a game by shooting the
Minions’ favorite food—bananas, of
course!—at a target. At Delicious Me!
The Cookie Kitchen, guests can savor perfectly delicious cookie sandwiches made by the Cookie-Making
Machine, a super invention of the big eaters Minions. At Delicious Me! Photo Opportunity, guests can take
photos of Minion-like fun incidentsfor example, a Minion accidentally enlarged by the Enlargement Gun
used to make extra-large cookies, breaking the kitchen wall. At Minion Park, children and adults alike can
enjoy their fill of “the world’s greatest Minion Mayhem”—a series of unexpected happenings—throughout the
day.
Open to the Public for the First Time! Image Visual of the “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” Ride That Shows
Hybrid 5K Images
On the “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” Ride, videos are projected onto a giant nano-seam dome screen
with a diameter of more than 20 meters. The hybrid 5K* 4 images created with a state-of-the-art high-definition
laser-projection system*3 gives riders realistic sensations as if they were actually experiencing all the
happenings they are seeing on the screen in real life, even clearly showing the Minions’ skin. The brightly
colored images on the screen allow the guests to feel three-dimensional sensations without using 3D goggles.
The guests are completely enveloped by the overwhelming space of the Minion Mayhem through realistic
sensations beyond their imagination.
Win a Special Invitation to Be the First to Experience the Minion Mayhem Ride! The Whole of Japan Is
“Minionized”! The Tweet Campaign Starts
A special campaign “Declaration of Your Wish to Enjoy the World’s Largest Minion Park” started in
mid-February on the Universal Studios Japan’s official Twitter. Just by declaring their wish to go to the area,
500 Minion fans (250 pairs) living throughout Japan who want to have fun at Minion Park will be invited free
of charge to the Minion Park Opening Ceremony, which will take place before the area’s grand opening! It is a
very unconventional and unique project.
