Dear Parent/Carer
Year 9 Immersion Day Trip to National Media Museum
We are planning to take Year 9 to The National Media Museum in Bradford on Thursday 10th December as
part of our Immersion Day programme. Students will have the opportunity to visit the ‘Experience TV’
exhibit where they can look at the invention and development of television and learn how to become a
newsreader. They may also like to visit the ‘Games Lounge’ to have a go on the original arcade games,
such as space invaders, or the ‘Magic Factory’ for some hands on experiments.
The National Media Museum is also home to an IMAX 3D cinema and students can visit this attraction if
they wish. The cost for the IMAX cinema is £5 and the film showing on the day we are there will be about
the Deep Sea. Students will also get to keep their 3D glasses to take home.
There is no charge for this visit and students do not have to take part in the IMAX experience if they don’t
want to. In the Games Lounge there are a number of arcade games which have a small charge for them of
10-50p. If they would like to have a go on some of these original games then they may need to take a
small amount of change with them.
We will depart from school at approx. 08.30am so your child must arrive at normal time and we should
arrive back at school at around 16.00pm, although we will keep you informed if it is going to be any later.
Your child should bring a packed lunch and dress in sensible casual clothes for the day. If your child
receives free school meals a packed lunch will be brought for them. May we remind you that in line with our
healthy eating policy; no fizzy drinks should be brought.
You have already completed a medical form, please could you let school know if there are any
amendments/changes we need to know about. Please complete the reply slip below and return it to myself
or Mr Hutton by Friday 4th December 2015.
