What happens if the taker of any type of kick (direct, indirect, PK, kick-in, corner kick, or kick
off) touches the ball a 2nd time before it touches another player?

occurred.
When a team has five fouls and they commit a sixth foul (or 7 th, 8th, etc…) what happens?
- Once a team commits a sixth foul (or more) during either half the opposing team is awarded a free kick
as described below. It is played just like a penalty kick.
- the player taking the free kick shall kick the ball with the intention of scoring a goal and may not pass
the ball to a team-mate
- once the free kick has been taken, no player may touch the ball until it has been touched by the
defending goalkeeper, rebounded off the goalpost or crossbar, or left the pitch
- if a player commits his team’s sixth foul (or more) in the opposing team’s half or in his own half in the
area bordered by the halfway line and the penalty mark (top of the key), the free kick shall be taken
from the second penalty mark (half court).
- if a player commits his team’s sixth foul (or more) in his own half of the pitch between the goal line
and the top of the penalty area, the team awarded the free kick shall take the kick from the penalty
mark (top of the key)
- additional time shall be allowed for a direct free kick to be taken at the end of each half or at the end
of each period of extra time

Play is stopped (if there is an “advantage” for the non-substituting team then play is
not stopped until that advantage is lost) and the early substitute is given a caution
(yellow card) and an indirect free kick is given to the other team at the point where
the ball was when play was stopped

From where is a direct kick taken for each foul after the fifth for a team?
- if a player commits his team’s sixth foul (or more) in the opposing team’s half or in his own half in the
area bordered by the halfway line and the penalty mark (top of the key), the free kick shall be taken
from the second penalty mark (half court).
- if a player commits his team’s sixth foul (or more) in his own half of the pitch between the goal line
and the top of the penalty area, the team awarded the free kick shall take the kick from the penalty
mark (top of the key)
If the keeper traps (controls) a shot or pass with his feet can he then pause and wait until he
is approached to pick the ball up? If not what is the re-start?
-
No it is considered a second touch, indirect free kick from outside the penalty area.
When does the “four count” start for a free kick, kick off, corner kick, or kick in?
-
-
For a kick in or corner, as soon as enough time has passed for any player on the
kicking team has had enough time to gather the ball and place it for the kick (in the
opinion of the referee)
for a free kick or kick off as soon as the referee indicates by whistle or signal the kick
can be taken (the referee should not signal until both teams are ready) Keep in
mind that just like outdoor the kicking team can kick the ball as soon as they are
ready in the case of a free kick.
