Dear Symphonic Band Parents and Students,
Symphonic Band’s first Junior High night is coming up at Clay High. This event is mandatory and will go
towards each student’s grade.
The Junior High Night at Clay High School is on Friday, September 9. At Clay High we will rehearse our music
with the high school band on the field and in sectionals. Clay High will provide dinner to all of the students before the
game. We will march into the stadium at 6:30, and also play in the stands. At halftime all of the Junior High students will
perform on the field with Clay High. We will watch the high school bands perform their marching shows during halftime
(if time allows) or at the end of the game.
The students will stay after school and ride with me by bus. The bus will leave at LAJH at 4:15 PM. Students are
expected to stay for the entire game and will need to be picked up from Clay High School at 9:30 PM. We will not
be taking a bus back to LAJH. I am looking for five chaperones to help supervise the students at the football game, and
to drive over some instruments to Clay (and hopefully back to LAJH after the game). The chaperones will need to meet us
at LAJH at 4:00 PM. Chaperone duties will include sitting in the stands and escorting students to the bathrooms. Please
send a note to me with your child or an email if you are interested in chaperoning.
Make arrangements for your child to stay for the entire game. Their cases and school materials will be locked in
the band room and will not be available for retrieval until the game is over. The game should be over at 9:30, but expect to
pick your child up around 9:45 by the time they gather their belongings. Traffic gets heavy at the end of games and Clay
High suggests that you arrive prior to 9:30 to avoid the traffic.
The permission slip for the Junior High Night at Clay High is below. Please have it returned to me by
Friday, September 2. Our concert attire will be our maroon band shirt, jeans and sneakers. I am ordering extra
shirts for the students without them and they should arrive prior to the game.

My child __________________________________________________ has permission to ride the bus and attend the Junior High
Marching Night at Clay high on September 9. I will pick my child up at Clay High by 9:45 that night.
