Aggregates may only be used in load-bearing building components if their conformity in
accordance with the “2+” system is certified.
2.
As regards recycled aggregate, proof must be furnished that they correspond to Building
Regulations List A Part 1, item number 1.2.6.
3.
In the case of recycled aggregates and industrially produced aggregate excluding expanded
mica (vermiculite), exfoliated perlite, expanded shale, expanded clay and crushed brick from unused
bricks, proof of environmental compatibility must be furnished by means of a general building
inspectorate approval. In the case of sintered pulverised fuel ash and furnace gravel from fuelled
power stations as per DIN 1045-2, Section 5.2.3.6, proof need only then be furnished if secondary
fuels are burnt apart from coal.
4.
In the case of lightweight aggregate supplied to the user by an intermediary, Building
Regulations List A Part 1, item number 1.2.10, applies.
5.
As regards natural, lightweight aggregates excluding tuff, pumice and lava, proof must be
furnished of their sensitivity to alkalis for use in load-bearing building components in the form of a
general building inspectorate approval.
