Summer Professional Development
Cottonwood had 8 staff members attend a PAX workshop at Socorro School’s Grads building on
June 7th. The program is a classroom management “game” designed to help teach students
self-regulation. We were invited by John Ray Dennis from the district. All participants were
given a stipend and will be provided another when they provide benchmark data for the PAX
research group.
Ms. Haworth and Mr. Shrack are attending a Science Workshop later this month.
Kim attended a New Mexico Teach evaluator training on June 6th.
Kim and Karen Bailey-Bowman will attend the Charter School Leadership institute on June 2122. Mary will look over the agenda to see if she should attend one day. Others are welcome to
sign up! You should have received an e-mail a few weeks ago.
There is a possibility that Myself and another staff member will attend a Google Summit
workshop for educators July 13th and 14th in Silver City.
Charter Goals
We are currently working on data to show how we performed on our Charter Academic and
Organizational Goals. We will have a notebook with these at the next meeting.
Once we have all the data organized, we will plan to use it on one of our professional days to
determine where we need to focus for better student success.
Next Year’s Schedules
Several Middle School teachers along with myself and Mr. Shrack finished the schedule next
year. Minimal changes have been done. We are adding 2 sixth grade Spanish classes per week
and providing the 6th graders with a technology course that will begin with keyboarding. The
duty schedule is extra tight without the extra Educational Assistant.
New Superintendent
I will attend a principal meeting with the new superintendent on June 28th.
I have also e-maled and invited Mr. Hendrix to visit our campus when he arrives.
