From the President
Hi everyone,
Hope this finds all of you and your dogs well. I hear Patrick’s clinic was a good one, with both dogs and
handlers making progress. A big thank you to Keith and Mickey for hosting Patrick during his stay, as well
as the dinner Saturday night. Patrick will be back for the Fall Clinic October 3 rd and 4th. Mark your
calendars!
Speaking of marking calendars, we have a couple of new summer events this year. June 6 th and 7th will be
the Spring Fling Fun Trial at Debbie Empey’s beautiful ranch in Island Park. You should have received the
information the other day. Please RSVP if you plan to attend. It is sure to be a good time as well as a low
key trial and learning experience. Trials present a great opportunity to show you what you need to work
on and this one can help guide you for the upcoming summer’s training.
Then on July 11th and 12th, the club is having a Bill Berhow clinic. Bill Berhow has ranched for many years
as well as having trialed extensively, with an impressive list of victories. As if that’s not enough
temptation, the clinic is going to be held at a gorgeous ranch not far from Debbie’s place, just across the
Montana border. Registration forms for this will be coming soon, stay tuned!
And then, on Saturday September 5th (Labor Day weekend) is the Eastern Idaho State Fair trial - another
great, pretty low key trialing opportunity. We’ll send out the information and registration for that later in
the summer.
Last but not least, hats off once again to our hosts extraordinaire Keith and Mickey for the Sunday May
17th playday and meeting. You guys are the best! Also many many thanks to Wendy, who is stepping
down as treasurer. Wendy, you did a marvelous job! Lonna Jean will be our new club treasurer.
Meanwhile, we are still searching for a mobile “home” for all the club gear. Everyone please keep your
eyes peeled for a 14 or 16 foot cargo trailer. If you come across one for sale, please contact Staci at
[email protected]
Off to go do chores in the rain…again…happy spring!
Krissi

Minutes of the June 7, 2015 Meeting
Empey Ranch, Island Park, ID
Meeting was called to order by Club President Krissi Goetz at 3:20 PM.
ROLL CALL
Members present: Krissi Goetz, Debbie Empey, Kris Grover, Val and Doug Gardner, Staci and Dave
O’Connell, Hailey and Jake Pratt, Karen and Larry Jensen, Dick and Lonna Jean Conroy.
A quorum was present.
MINUTES – Minutes of the past two meetings were approved as distributed. Lonna Jean will fill in for
Staci as secretary for today’s meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
Utility Trailer -- No news concerning the purchase of a club utility trailer except that members are still
looking for one that is suitable and in the price range that has been designated.
Sound System – tabled
Logo and Website – Still in process. Lonna Jean will report at next meeting regarding the current
yearly cost of the website.
Spring Fling – Labeled a huge success by all in attendance. Special thanks to Jeremy Pratt for the
outstanding barbecued brisket and to everyone who contributed to the potluck. Huge thanks to
Debbie for hosting the two-day event. Lonna Jean will pay Debbie the stock and venue fee as soon
as she is able to sign checks.
Berhow Clinic – The July 11-12 Clinic scheduled at Elk Meadows Ranch, Cameron, Montana is full
but there is plenty of room for those wishing to audit the clinic. Currently there are two dogs on a
waiting list. Staci will announce that the clinic is full via Facebook and an email to members and
encourage people to contact Marina Smith for a private lesson with Bill Berhow following the clinic on
Monday, July 13. Fee is $80 per lesson (one hour).
EISF Trial – Lonna Jean will have a judge before the next meeting. Robin Nuffer Brown will be
contacted. Members should obtain program ads for the trial program and turn them into Lonna Jean
or Staci as soon as possible.
Bylaws Committee – Nothing to report, but the committee will meet within the next two weeks.
Liability Insurance – Lonna Jean and Kris reported on the bids they received from two insurance
carriers regarding liability/event insurance for EISDA. It was noted that $500 has been budgeted for
the Berhow Clinic to meet the requirements of the venue owner. Bids for liability insurance for all
EISDA sanctioned events (clinics and play days) for one year fell in the range of $795-807. Kris
Grover moved, seconded by Lonna Jean Conroy to purchase liability insurance for one year for all
clinics and club functions with an approximate cost of $750-825. Motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS
Transfer of Treasurer’s Books -- Lonna Jean reported that she has the treasurer’s books but has
not worked through the red tape to become a signatory on the account. Kris Grover and Lonna Jean
will be on the account. Lonna Jean asked Staci for a letter confirming she has been appointed the
interim Treasurer.
Next Play Day – The next play day will be held at home of Kris and Neal Grover in Swan Valley on
June 28.
Meeting was adjourned at 4:15 PM.
