Jessica Hell
 One day there was
a girl called
Jessica. Her mum
died when she was
three and her dad
went to war to
Scotland.
 Jessica had no
choice but to stay
with her rude mean
aunty who had two
daughters called
Spice Girls.
 One day Jessica
got a letter. It said
that her father died.
She was mourning
for him.
 Jessica had two
stepsisters, one good
Melanie, and one bad
Victoria. Melanie
always helped
Jessica, she cheered
her up and she told
her very often:
Don’t worry! I’ll help you whenever you need me.
But Melanie hid it from mother and sister.
 Melanie brought
Jessica different
delicious food: żurek
(Polish soup, typical
in the south of
Poland), bigos (
cabbage with meat)
and pierogi ( pastry
with different
fillings).
 One day her stepmother
saw that Melanie was
helping Jessica. She
decided to punish them
and she locked the girls in
the cellar and gave them
ragged clothes. What is
even more, she starved
them for one week.
. It was freezing cold and damp there. You could
smell rotten potatoes and hear mice squeaking and
scrawling.
 The girls whispered
to each other and tried
to think of a way to
get out of the cellar.
They were talking
about different
possible run away
plans when suddenly
they heard somebody
screaming.
Suddenly, appeared a big figure. Jessica asked:
-What’s your name?
 -My name is
Mariusz, people
called me Pudzian.
I’m a weightlifting
world champion. I’ll
rescue you – said a
strange man.
 Jessica and Melanie
said happily:
 - Thanks.
 - You’re welcome! –
replayed Pudzian.
 When they got out from
the dark cellar, they went
to the market. There the
crowd shouted:
 - King at the
market!!!!! Mieszko
I !!!!!!!!!
 - I declare
ceremonially, that I
invite everyone for the
ball! – said proudly
the king.
 So, Jessica,
Melanie and
Pudzian decided to go
to the ball. First,
they went to ‘Smyk’
(shop) to buy dresses.
The dresses looked
beautifully. After
shopping Pudzian
took girls at the
party.
