HOW TO TRAIN Approx Time Group Size 2 hours 5-15 Materials Needed Refer to the “JCP JEOPARDY” Checklist for a detailed list of Training Props, Hand Samples, and Handouts TRAINING OBJECTIVE “JCP JEOPARDY” was designed to provide JC Penney Window Covering Associates with a review of LK’s MTM programs and may be presented in a formal or informal training format. This training focuses on the Levolor brand while pointing out the additional features, collections, and options in Kirsch. To accomplish these objectives, the training theme is based on the popular game show “JEOPARDY”. To solidify training content and bring out the competitive nature of the associates, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a question and answer period (or answer and question period in this case!) that promises to enhance their learning experience. The execution of this workshop will result in attendees maximizing sales opportunities by offering LK products that are trend forward and best meet the needs of their customers. Please see the instructions below for tips on how to train each component. TRAINING PREP This training is tailored to meet individual NAS’ territory needs. You will have an opportunity to train on the current JCP Product of the Month plus two additional categories of your choice. Begin by analyzing your sales numbers to determine the two product opportunity (NAS choice) areas. Thoroughly review all JCP Jeopardy related documents prior to training. Ensure your hand samples are in excellent working condition and copy enough training handout packets for your group. INTRODUCTION/ICEBREAKER 10 Minutes Greet each attendee; ask them to sign-in on the registration sheet provided. Begin the training by introducing yourself and any LK employees attending. Open the training by asking attendees to introduce themselves, including their name, length of service, and their favorite game show. Use this time to create an open and comfortable environment, where the audience is free to ask questions and get involved. At this time quickly review the JC Penney Circle of Excellence document; current spiffs, current promotions and training agenda. The contestant teams may vary in size depending on the number of attendees, however every attempt should be made to have an equal number of people on each team. Diversify contestant teams to incorporate members from multiple stores and skill levels. Hand out 1 game board to each team. After completing all product training, teams play round one of JCP Jeopardy. In JCP Jeopardy, money is earned by providing questions to answers. Clues are worth $100 to $500. At game start, the team with the most tenured associate has control first. On each turn, the team in control chooses a clue by announcing a category and dollar amount (for example, cellular for $200). The clue is read by the presenter, then (and only then) the teams are allowed to raise their hands to answer. The team that raises their hand first gets a chance to answer. A correct response earns the value of the clue; an incorrect response subtracts the value of the clue from the team’s total and gives the remaining teams a chance to answer. On a correct response, that team gains control and gets to select the next clue. Teams may follow along by marking off which clues have been answered on their game boards. All points are recorded on a separate piece of paper/flipchart/chalkboard by LK rep. Final Jeopardy During this time teams have an opportunity to wager their points in an effort to win the game. Reveal that the Final Jeopardy question reviews information that encompasses all of Levolor Kirsch’s product assortment. Have them place their wagers (points). Associates may wager any or all of their winnings; however, contestants with no points or a negative score are not allowed to participate. After all wagers are placed reveal the final Jeopardy question, and contestants have 30 seconds to write down their response. After the 30 seconds is up, each team reveals their answer, and then their wager. Correct responses earn money, incorrect responses lose money. At the end of the game, the team with the most money wins the game. The highest-scoring team wins the game and the gift cards.
