Central Gippsland Cricket Association Inc Section: III FIRST GRADE PLAYING CONDITIONS & MATCH RULES Section III: Page 1 SECTION III FIRST GRADE ONE DAY - HOME & AWAY GAMES MATCH RULES & PLAYING CONDITIONS 1. 1.1 1.1.1 FIRST GRADE HOME & AWAY ONE-DAY MATCHES: MATCH DURATION: All One-Day Matches shall consist of a maximum of Forty Five (45) overs per Innings. Start Time Tea Interval Resume Play Schedule Finish 12:30pm 3:10pm 3:30pm 6:10pm 2 2.1 TEA INTERVAL: If a Match commences before 1.25pm, a scheduled Tea Interval of Twenty (20) minutes is to be taken after the team batting first has completed its innings. If the Match commences after 1.25pm, the scheduled tea interval shall not be taken. 2.2 3. 3.1 INNINGS DURATION: The innings of both teams, if not previously completed, shall be compulsorily closed at the completion of the Forty-Fifth (45th) over, except as provided hereunder in Rules 4, 5 & 6 4. 4.1 DELAYED START: If the match is delayed in starting by no more than Sixty-Five (65) minutes then, the number of overs required to be bowled in each innings shall be reduced as set out in the following table: DELAYED START TABLE: MINUTES LOST OVERS REDUCED 1 – 8 minutes 1 Over 9 – 16 minutes 2 Overs 17 – 24 minutes 3 Overs 25 – 32 minutes 4 Overs 33 – 40 minutes 5 Overs 41 – 48 minutes 6 Overs 49 – 56 minutes 7 Overs 57 – 65 minutes 8 Overs If there is any further lost time, such interruptions shall be deemed to be greater than Thirty (30) minutes and the Match shall be played under Rules 6.1 & 6.2 INTERRUPTIONS – Thirty (30) Minutes or less If the Match is interrupted by Thirty (30) minutes or less, the Match shall be played until the required numbers of overs for the day have been bowled. 4.1.1 4.2 5. 5.1 Section III: Page 2 6. 6.1 6.2 6.3 6.4 7. 7.1 7.2 8. 8.1 8.2 8.3 INTERRUPTIONS – Greater than Thirty (30) Minutes If the Match, once it has commenced, is interrupted by more than Thirty (30) minutes by bad light or inclement weather conditions, the game shall thereupon be played with the following variations: The team batting first shall be entitled to bat for a maximum of Forty-Five (45) overs or in the event of a delayed start, the number of over’s determined at the commencement of the Match. There shall be Sixteen (16) overs bowled after 5.10pm. In the event of an innings change during the last hour Three (3) overs shall be deducted. Matches that are played under this Rule shall finish at 6.10pm provided Sixteen (16) overs have been bowled in the last hour. BOWLING RESTRICTIONS: In all one day matches Bowlers are not permitted to bowl more than Ten (10) overs each. If the innings is reduced to less than Forty Five (45) overs, the bowling restriction remains as a maximum of Ten (10) overs per bowler. PENALTIES: Slow Over Rates A penalty of $5.00 shall be applied for each over bowled after the session is scheduled to finish. In the event, where bowling teams are late in completing the required number of overs within the allotted time period, the bowling side shall be penalised 0.20 bonus points for every over not completed. Where Bowling Teams are to be penalised Bowling Points, the Umpire at the conclusion of the Match shall advise the Club Captains of any Bowling Penalties by completing the Umpires Match Report. A copy must be of the Umpires Match Report must be handed to the Club Captains 9. 9.1 COLOURED SHIRTS For all First Grade Matches, participating players are required to wear coloured shirts, which represent the Clubs Colours. A penalty of $10.00 per player will apply if players wear incorrect attire. 10. 10.1 PREMIERSHIP POINTS: Premiership points shall be awarded in accordance with By-Law Rule 12. 11. 11.1 MATCH RESULTS: Captains are reminded of their responsibility to ensure that the procedures for Match Results are followed. Under By-Law Rules 21 & 22, the Captains and Umpires are responsible for the verification of the scores. 12. 12.1 AWARDS: Matches shall not count for Player of the Year Award purposes unless Thirty (30) overs of the match or one (1) complete innings have been completed. Start Time Tea Interval Resume Play Schedule Finish 12:30pm 3:00pm 3:20pm 6:00pm SECOND INNINGS: For Rules governing the Second Innings refer Senior Two Day Home & Away Match Rule 7. NEW BALL: In a Two (2) Day Match, the fielding side shall have the option of taking a new ball after the completion of eighty (80) overs. TEA INTERVAL: A Tea interval of twenty (20) minutes shall be taken at 3.00 pm unless: At 3.00 pm, If nine (9) wickets are down, in which case, play shall continue for a period not exceeding thirty (30) minutes or until the innings is concluded. An innings ends after 2.30pm or there is a stoppage caused by bad weather, which extends or occurs after 2.30pm, then the Tea adjournment shall be taken immediately. INNINGS DURATION: DURATION OF INNINGS: Side Batting First The first innings of each team shall be concluded when: They are dismissed; or The Captain declares the innings closed; or It has received a minimum of eighty five (85) overs. DURATION OF FIRST INNINGS: Side Batting Second In the event that the Team batting first is dismissed or it declares before the eighty fifth (85th) over is completed, there shall be a break of ten (10) minutes. Three (3) overs shall then be deducted from the minimum amount of overs required to be bowled on that day and the innings of the opposition Team shall begin. When the Team batting second begins its first innings on the first day of play, it shall be entitled to bat for the remainder of the play on that day. On the second day's play, the Team, if not previously dismissed, is entitled to receive a minimum of eighty-five (85) overs or the amount of overs that were bowled to the opposition whichever is the greater. DURATION OF FIRST INNINGS: First Innings of Side Batting Second on Second Day When the team batting second begins its innings at the start of the second day, that team shall be entitled to receive eighty-five (85) overs or the same number of overs as the team that batted first whichever is the greater. RULES GOVERNING INTERRUPTIONS ON THE FIRST DAY: If play on the first day is affected by adverse weather conditions; the Match shall remain as a scheduled Two Day Fixture and be played under the Two Day Match Home & Away Rules and Playing Conditions unless otherwise advised by the Association’s Match Committee. INTERRUPTIONS: Greater than Thirty (30) Minutes Where more than thirty (30) minutes of play is lost on the first day prior to 6.00pm, play shall continue until 6.30pm or the required minimum of eight (8) overs have been bowled in extra time, whichever is the latter. If play is interrupted after 6.00pm, play shall cease. RULES GOVERNING INTERRUPTIONS ON THE SECOND DAY: Interruption: - Thirty (30) minutes or less If the aggregate of playing time lost on the first two (2) days is thirty (30) minutes or less or the required numbers of overs for the Match have not been bowled, play shall continue on the second day until the required number of overs for the Match has been bowled. INTERRUPTIONS: – Greater than Thirty (30) minutes If the aggregate of playing time lost on the first two (2) days is greater than thirty (30) minutes or the required numbers of overs for the Match have not been bowled, play shall continue until 6.30pm or until a minimum of eight (8) overs have been bowled in extra time, whichever is the latter. If play is interrupted after 6.00pm, play shall cease. RULES GOVERNING THE SECOND INNINGS OF EACH TEAM: Ordinary Conditions: Ordinary conditions commence when a team's second innings begins. In which case, play shall cease at 6.00pm, provided sixteen (16) overs have been bowled in the last hour of play on the second day. Where both captains agree to end play early, play may cease at 5.30pm. The Follow On: In a Two-Day Match, the side which bats first and leads by one hundred (100) runs or more on the first innings shall have the option of requiring the side batting second to follow on. PENALTIES: Slow Over Rates A penalty of $5.00 shall be applied for each over bowled after the session is scheduled to finish. In the event, where bowling teams are late in completing the required number of overs within the allotted time period, the bowling side shall be penalised 0.20 bonus points for every over not completed. HOURS OF PLAY Play shall commence at 11.00am and, except as described hereafter, shall cease at 5.50pm. CESSATION: All play shall cease when a Captain concedes, or a first innings or outright result has been achieved or the two (2) scheduled days have passed and a result has not been achieved. TEA INTERVAL: Lunch Interval shall be of thirty (30) minutes duration. Tea Interval shall be of twenty (20) minutes duration. Interval times shall be 1.00pm and 3.30pm, except where nine (9) wickets are down. In which case, play will continue for a period not exceeding thirty (30) minutes or until the innings is concluded, or Where an innings ends or there is a stoppage, which is caused by bad weather within thirty (30) minutes of the scheduled interval, then the interval shall be taken immediately. 3. 3.1 3.1.1 3.1.2 3.1.3 DURATION OF INNINGS: Side Batting First The first innings of each team shall be concluded when: They are dismissed; or The Captain declares the innings closed; or It has received a minimum of one hundred (100) overs. 3.2 3.2.1 DURATION OF FIRST INNINGS: Side Batting Second In the event that the team batting first is dismissed or it declares before the one hundredth (100th) over is completed on the first day of play, there shall be a break of ten (10) minutes. Three (3) overs shall then be deducted from the minimum amount of overs required to be bowled on that day and the innings of the opposition team shall begin. When the Team batting second begins its first innings on the first day of play, it shall be entitled to bat for the remainder of play on that day. On the second day's play, the Team, if not previously dismissed, is entitled to receive a minimum of one hundred (100) overs. 3.2.2 Section III: Page 6 3.3 3.3.1 DURATION OF FIRST INNINGS: Side Batting Second on Second Day When the team batting second begins its innings at the start of the second day, that team shall be entitled to receive one hundred (100) overs or the same number of overs as the team that batted first whichever is the greater. 4. 4.1 RULES GOVERNING INTERRUPTIONS ON THE FIRST DAY: INTERRUPTIONS (Less than Forty (40) minutes) Where the aggregate of playing time lost, on the first day is forty (40) minutes or less, play shall continue until the required minimum of one hundred (100) overs have been bowled. INTERRUPTIONS (Greater than Forty (40) minutes) Where more than forty (40) minutes of play is lost on the first day prior to 5.50pm, play shall continue until 6.30pm or the required minimum of eleven (11) overs have been bowled in extra time, whichever is the latter. If play is interrupted after 5.50pm, play shall cease. 4.2 4.3 5. 5.1 5.2 5.3 6. 6.1 6.2 7. 7.1 7.2 RULES GOVERNING INTERRUPTIONS ON THE SECOND DAY: INTERRUPTIONS: – Forty (40) minutes or less If the aggregate of playing time lost on the first two (2) days is forty (40) minutes or less or the required numbers of overs for the Match have not been bowled, play shall continue on the second day until the required number of overs for the Match has been bowled. INTERRUPTIONS: – Greater than Forty (40) minutes If the aggregate of playing time lost on the first two (2) days is greater than forty (40) minutes or the required numbers of overs for the Match have not been bowled, play shall continue until 6.30pm or until a minimum of eleven (11) overs have been bowled in extra time, whichever is the latter. If play is interrupted after 5.50pm, play shall cease. RULES GOVERNING THE SECOND INNINGS OF EACH TEAM: Ordinary conditions commence when a team's second innings begins. In which case, play shall cease at 5.50pm, provided sixteen (16) overs have been bowled in the last hour of play on the second day. THE FOLLOW ON: In the Semi Final, the side which bats first and leads by one hundred (100) runs or more on the first innings shall have the option of requiring the side batting second to follow on. ABANDONED, DRAWN or TIED GAMES: When the Team batting second is not dismissed, does not receive its full entitlement of overs and does not pass the opposition’s score, the game shall be declared a draw. In the event of an abandoned, drawn or tied Match, the higher placed team on the ladder at the conclusion of the Home & Away season shall be declared the winner and advance to the Grand Final Match. MATCH DURATION: The Match shall comprise a minimum of two hundred (200) overs of which a minimum of one hundred (100) overs may be bowled on any of the scheduled days. HOURS OF PLAY: Scheduled Match Times: Play shall commence at 11.00am on each day and, except as described hereafter, shall cease at 5.50pm. The decision to continue while conditions permit is entirely at the discretion of the Umpires and shall be made in an endeavour to complete the day’s play and or the Match. If play is interrupted after 5.50pm, play shall cease. 4.2 4.3 5. 5.1 5.2 5.3 5.4 6. 6.1 6.2 RULES GOVERNING PLAY BEYOND THE SECOND DAY Should play progress beyond the second scheduled day; only the minimum number of overs remaining to be bowled in the Match shall be bowled. A minimum of one hundred (100) overs shall be bowled in a day. If the required numbers of overs for the day have not been bowled due to interruptions or slow play, play may continue beyond the scheduled finish time for that day until the required minimum number of overs has been bowled or a first innings result has been achieved whichever comes first. The decision to continue while conditions permit is entirely at the discretion of the Umpires and shall be made in an endeavour to complete the day’s play and or the Match. If play is interrupted after 5.50pm, play shall cease. ABANDONED, DRAWN or TIED GAMES: If the Team batting second is not dismissed, does not receive its full entitlement of overs and does not pass the opposition’s score by the end of the last scheduled day, the Match shall be declared a draw.
