Holiday Gift Barn Volunteer Opportunities

Monday, Dec. 7:
Set-up – 8am-12pm
10-15 volunteers
 Set up tables
 Hang signs, or make signs if needed for each table, check in, check out, gift wrap, etc.
 Decorate and make the building look festive
Donor Helpers – 12:30-4pm and 3:30-7pm
10 volunteers per shift
 Ask donors if they want to set their gifts on the tables, and help them find the right table
 If donors can’t stay, take their donation and set it on the shelf or back stock it
 Give out donation receipts if needed
 Finish any set up that didn’t get completed in the morning
Tuesday, Dec. 8:
Donor Helpers – 12:30-4pm and 3:30-7pm
10 volunteers per shift
 Ask donors if they want to set their gifts on the tables, and help them find the right table
 If donors can’t stay, take their donation and set it on the shelf or back stock it

Wednesday, Dec. 9:
Table Monitors – 10am-1:00pm, 12:45-4pm and 3:45-7:30pm
22 volunteers per shift (2 per table)
 Monitor tables, and make sure customers don’t seem to be taking too many gifts or gifts that aren’t ageappropriate
 Re-stock tables when gifts are low
 Help customers shop for toys, and help them find a gift for their child if they don’t see one on the shelves
 Direct customers to check out and wrapping station
Line Monitor – 10am-1:00pm, 12:45-4pm and 3:45-7:30pm
2 volunteers per shift
 Check IDs (necessary for entry) and make sure shoppers are arriving at the correct time
 Monitor the line to make sure no one is getting aggressive or trying to get in early
Check-out – 10am-1:00pm, 12:45-4pm and 3:45-7:30pm
5-6 volunteers per shift

Take customers’ tickets and count their gifts. Each child should have the correct number of gifts (or less if they
couldn’t find more they wanted). More expensive gifts may count as more than one “regular” gift. Gifts must be
age-appropriate.
Gift Card Check-out – 10am-1:00pm, 12:45-4pm and 3:45-7:30pm

 Monitor gift cards as each customer draws their gift card
 Record gift card numbers and customer names
Gift Wrap/Hot Cocoa Stations – 10am-1:00pm, 12:45-4pm and 3:45-7:30pm
2 volunteers per shift
 Make sure the gift wrap and hot cocoa are stocked and neat
 Help clients wrap gifts if needed
 If check-in, check-out or shopping assistants need an extra person, feel free to step in
Childcare – 10am-1:00pm, 12:45-4pm and 3:45-7:30pm
4-5 volunteers per shift
 Watch customers’ children while they shop so kids don’t see gifts their parents are picking out
 Help kids with coloring/craft projects, read books and/or make sure our child care items don’t accidentally walk
out the door with kids

Clothing Bank Holiday Store Set-up – 8am-12pm with Pam
10 volunteers
 Set up the Clothing Bank for holiday toys
 Clean out Food and Clothing Bank donations, etc. that have been stored in the Clothing Bank, or that are
blocking the path from the back door to the Clothing Bank
Clean-up – 8am-12pm
10 volunteers
 Load extra toys into the truck
 Fold up tables and put away
 Pick up garbage, etc
 Help IFCB staff unload toys and racks at the IFCB
 Set up holiday toys on racks and shelves for shopping the next week
