ACSET OVERVIEW: ACSET is the administrative and fiscal agent for the Community Action Agency
of Kent County and Michigan Works! Agency of Kent, Allegan & Barry Counties. Its mission is to
create opportunities for economic self-sufficiency for low-income, economically disadvantaged, elderly,
disabled, unemployed and underemployed individuals, and dislocated workers.
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs general reception duties and a variety of functions related to obtaining and processing detailed
information in support of program activities and/or program participants. Responsibilities are carried out
according to established procedures with latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Assignments
are received from an administrative superior who reviews work in progress and upon completion.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Performs general reception duties for multi-service facility, including meeting the public,
answering telephones, distributing mail, providing routine information and referring non-routine
inquires to appropriate staff.

Determines eligibility for program services by obtaining/verifying necessary documentation and
comparing data obtained to eligibility criteria; schedules client appointments.
3.
Provides specialized information, responds to requests for application procedures, gathers data,
and compiles information from program records.
4.
Obtains information regarding program activities, participants, and applicants for program
services.
5.
Assists in arranging meetings, schedules appointments for staff, and tracks changes/cancellations
of meetings.
6.
Operates a variety of office equipment; performs data entry and word processing as needed.
7.
Prepares routine and special reports as required.
8.
Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1.
The job requires knowledge normally acquired through a general high school education, and
2.
One to two years of relevant experience involving significant contact with the public, or an
equivalent combination of training and experience.
3.
Interpersonal skills necessary to perform candidate interviews and provide courteous and accurate
information and responses to community members, local resource agencies and various levels of
organizational personnel.
4.
Written skills necessary to prepare routine and special reports and required documentation.
5.
Advanced computer skills necessary to effectively utilize word processing, database, and
spreadsheet software applications.
6.
Basic math skills necessary to make mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy.
7.
Mental ability to frequently work on projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with
frequent disruptions due to people and/or telephone calls.
8.
Physical ability to frequently sit in one position for extended periods of time.

1.
Normal office environment with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like.
