PE Grant Allocation – 2015-16
Pupil Premium Grant Allocation – 2015-16
It is an exciting time for PE at the moment as schools have been awarded a PE and
Sport Grant.
Our main objectives for 2014-15 were to:

Purchase new resources to ensure highly effective P.E. lessons and Sports Day.
Provide CPD – MSC have worked alongside staff in the delivery of the new
curriculum and skills progression.
Organise a theme week ‘Sports Week’ to raise the profile of healthy life styles,
during which all our children experienced a variety of sporting activities and
completed challenges, promoting resilience and collaboration . During the week
inflatable sports were hired as part of the challenges and promoting exercise also at
lunchtime. Children participated in creating healthy eating and creating menus to
support their healthy lifestyle choices.
Achieved Kite Mark Bronze Sainsbury’s Award
Increased amount of competitions entered throughout the year.
Achievement of Kite Mark Gold Sainsbury’s Award showing recognition of the
quality sports provision and high standards in P.E.
Sporting Achievements:
 St John’s won the Keys Federation Intra Netball Competition.
 St John’s children were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in a variety of athletics
activities as part of the Athletics Tournament arranged through HIPSA (our local
cluster of inter school competition)
 We have also entered other competitions including:
 Dance
 Football
 Netball
 Dodgeball
 Cross Country



Cricket
Golf
SEN Inclusion day through Sainsbury’s School Games
Extra Curricular:
A range of extra curricular clubs promoting sport and healthy lifestyles have been
offered e.g.
- Rounders
- Football
- Netball
- Invasion games
- Cross country
- Dance
We will continue to receive this grant in 2015-16 and will work closely with our
Federation schools within The Keys Federation Academy Trust to ensure this funding is
spent on improving the provision of PE and sport and are proposing to:
 Appoint two P.E. Specialists who will be working as part of Sports Academy for
‘The Keys Federation Academy Trust’.
 use PE Specialists to work alongside teachers as part of ‘The Spirit of Purpose’
to develop subject knowledge and mastery of skills in P.E.
 provide professional development opportunities for Subject Leaders as part of
the Sports Academy Team in driving excellence in P.E. standards;
 support and engage children through new or additional activities/resources at
play time, lunch time and after school as led by our Sports Ambassadors and
School Council;
 continue to enter further sports competitions within our local league and as part
of Wigan West, therefore increasing pupils’ participation in school games;
 continue to provide places for pupils on after school sports clubs and holiday
clubs;
 pool additional funding with that of other local schools to ensure high quality
competitions and varied sporting events that our children can access.
