Code of Conduct - Mainland Football Federation

Fair Play Code
By signing your clubs Fair Play Code (FPC) you are making a commitment to
your team mates and to the game in general to raise the standards of behaviour on
match days.
Accept referees decisions and be more positive to your team mates. Focusing on
football will help your team win more matches, and we will all enjoy the game
more.
Let’s keep the beautiful game beautiful.
1. Be big enough to accept the decisions of the officials
Some players and spectators feel the need to comment at almost every decision the
referee makes. Always assume the referee is honest whether they have a badge or
just a volunteer helping out. Accept the referee’s decisions without arguing.
2. Be a great team mate
Players don't make mistakes on purpose, be positive and pick your teammates up
after they have made a mistake. Equally encourage all teammates to do their very
best, to concentrate and play well. The more you put into the game the more you
get out of it. Attend all training sessions.
3. Don't cheat
Don't dive or roll around pretending an injury trying to get an opposition player
booked or sent off. Instead form a block of solidarity, like a solid defence on the
field of play. And remind those who cheat of their commitment to their teammates and to the game itself.
4. Play to win but accept defeat with dignity
Winning is the object of playing any game. Play hard but fair, and remember
nobody wins all the time. You win some, you lose some. Learn to lose graciously
and congratulate the winners with good grace. Do not blame the referee or anyone
else. Be determined to do better next time. Good losers earn more respect than bad
winners. Remember after the game is over shake hands and forget about the things
that may have happened in the heat of battle.
5. Show some passion
Play the game with passion, aim high and be the best you can be. It takes a strong
player to be able to control, dominate an influence a game. It takes a stronger player
to be able to do deal with all the emotions of an important match in a positive way.
6. Respect your coach, opponents, team-mates, officials,
spectators and administrators
Fair Play means respect. Respect is part of our game. Thank your coach
occasionally throughout the season after training or a game. Seek out your club
administrators, buy them a beer and say thanks for all their hard work.
7. Swearing
Loud swearing is not needed in a game of football, keep it to a noise level that can
only be heard by yourself. Woman, children, grandparents are often watching.
They don't want to hear foul and abusive language. Let’s raise the standard.
8. Promote the interests of football
Football needs everybody's help to maintain its greatness. Think of football's
interests before your own. Think how your actions may affect the image of the
game. Talk about the positive things in the game. Encourage other people to watch
and play fairly. Help others to have as much fun from football as you do. Be an
ambassador for the game, your club, and yourself.
