School News
S1 Litter pick
Local residents of Kirn witnessed a welcoming sight last Friday afternoon (30 May
2014) as an army of school litter pickers took to the streets with one mission – to
clean up the town.
Over 100 S1 pupils and staff - equipped with grippers and high visibility jackets
supplied by the school’s facilities management providers Mitie - worked tirelessly
scooping up and bagging litter from the school’s surrounding neighbourhood.
The aim of the initiative was to not only provide an immediate ‘spruce up’ to the area,
but to ensure a lasting legacy - by raise awareness of the issue of litter within the
community and to minimise future occurrences of littering from the pupils involved.
Smaller ‘teams’ of pupils, from all year groups, will continue to maintain the areas
covered by the litter pick on a weekly basis.
In memory of Moria Taylor
Recently at Dunoon Grammar School, a bench, planters and picnic dining set were
dedicated to the memory of a very much loved and respected Teacher, Mrs Moira
Taylor.
Moira was very proud of Dunoon and in particular, Dunoon Grammar School. She
was associated with the Grammar for almost sixty years as a former pupil, parent and
teacher.
Many pupils will have lovely memories of Moira as someone who had their best
interests at heart and who helped change their direction in life.
The seating areas will allow pupils now and in the future to sit and enjoy the beautiful
surroundings that were so dear to her heart.
