Creating a Sorting Activity on the SMARTBoard
Introduction
Activities such as sorting and categorizing can be used in a variety of ways to support learning and reviewing
concepts. Completion of this tutorial will introduce you to one of the multiple choices of sorting/categorizing
activities that are available in Notebook Software.
Learning Objectives
Completion of this tutorial will give you experience with:




Using and Lesson Activity Toolkit.
Locating various activity templates.
Editing an activity.
Locating images in the Gallery.
This tutorial assumes


The SMARTBoard Notebook software is installed on your computer.
You have general computer and SMARTBoard skills.
Case study
Mr. Brown is embarking on a unit on Nutrition. He wishes to gather student information on prior knowledge
before beginning unit. He sets up a sorting activity that asks students to sort fruits and vegetables, meat from
grains etc. In completing the editing process of a sorting lesson template in Notebook Software, Mr. Brown
becomes away of the variety of templates available to support matching, sorting and categorizing activities
that he can easily access to support teaching and learning.

Locate Category Sort in the Lesson Activity Toolkit /
Activities folder in the Notebook Gallery.

Locate Blue Category Sort under Interactive and
Multimedia.
