TARANAKI RUGBY FOOTBALL UNION Growing Rugby, Developing People, Inspiring Taranaki POSITION DESCRIPTION Taranaki Representative Rugby Team Coach POSITION PURPOSE: To act as head coach for your respective Taranaki Representative Team, to appoint an Assistant Coach and Team Manager, to be approved by Taranaki Rugby, Community Rugby Manager. To lead the selection process of your team, in conjunction with your Assistant Coach, TRFU Head Rugby Development Advisor and TRFU Rugby Community Manager. To coach the team through the representative season organised by TRFU, including all trainings, pre-season matches and Representative Matches for this team. This is a voluntary role. RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: Community Rugby Manager Internal Relationships: TRFU Staff External Relationships: Taranaki Rugby Clubs Taranaki Primary Schools Taranaki Secondary Schools Other Provincial Union Rep Team Coaches and Managers KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Pre Rep Season ground work to ensure all eligible players are viewed and considered. A fair and appropriate selection process is adhered to, ensure all eligible players are given the opportunity for selection. Consult all relevant parties to ensure communication and the processes are clearly understood Conduct Trainings and Pre-Season preparations to ensure Taranaki is represented at the highest possible standard. Coach and lead the team, to the highest standard, both on and off the field, setting a great example, in line with Taranaki Rugby’s, guiding principles (as above). Ensure all NZR Rugby Technical Skills and Safety Skills, form the basis of your training and coaching. Integrity Unity Passion Kaizen POSITION DESCRIPTION Taranaki Representative Rugby Team Coach OBLIGATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS: Health & Safety As a Rep Coach of TRFU, you are expected to work in a safe manner at all times by: Following safe operating practices and complying with TRFU policies Considering the safety of others Never putting yourself or anyone else in an unsafe situation Report immediately any accidents, incidents or hazards Wear and use safety equipment as required Maintain excellent and safe standards of housekeeping in your place of work Take an active interest in the safety performance of the workplace Training and Personal Development To be prepared to further your qualifications through NZR and TRFU, training courses, such as DRC. To work with the TRFU, RDO team to develop your knowledge, skills, and resources Team Contribution In addition to these key responsibility areas outlined in this Position Description, as a valued employee you are expected to: Undertake any additional duties that may be required from time to time and that this should not be looked upon as an exhaustive list. Participate in any team activities or group activities to achieve the overall objectives of the organisation. Actively work towards achieving the organisation’s Annual Performance Targets. Competencies, Technical Skills, Knowledge, Experience You are expected, as a minimum, to have completed the NZR Small Blacks or Rugby Smart, as applicable to the level you are coaching. To be actively involved, in coaching, at an appropriate/similar level, and to have demonstrated success.
