Excel 3 – Activity 1 – Charts
Activity 1 –Imbedded Column Chart
1. Open the Excel 3 Activity 1 Vital Stats Column Chart file from the shared drive.
2. Save it to your Excel 3 folder on your drive as Per Last First Excel 3 Activity 1 Vital Stats Column
Chart.
3. Create header and footer in class format.
4. Update document properties.
5. Highlight the data in cells A3:C7.
6. From the Insert tab choose Column and select a 3D-Clustered column chart showing the causes
of death and the percentages
a. Move the chart below the data, starting at the top left of A9 and resize it so the bottom
right corner is at the bottom right of G23
7. To add the years to the legend, go to the Design tab
and click on the Select Data button.
a. Click on Series1 and choose Edit—Type 1910
and press okay.
b. Click on Series2 and choose Edit—Type 2003
and press okay.
c. Press okay to exit the Select Data Source
window.
8. Click on the 2003 bars (make sure they are all highlighted)  go to the Format tab and click on
Shape Fill. Choose Purple, Accent 4, Lighter 40%.
9. Click on the 1910 bars (make sure they are all highlighted)  go to the Format tab and click on
Shape Fill. Choose Dark Blue, Text 2, Darker 25%.
10. Click on the Chart Title, go to the Design Tab, Add Chart Element, Chart Title, choose None.
11. Go to the Page Layout Tab—Scale 1 page wide by 1 page tall, print gridlines and headings.
12. Go to Print Preview and check with the key on the next page. Make any corrections as needed.
Go to the Chart Analysis Worksheet in your listening guide and answer question #1 using this
chart.
13. Re-save the document and check with the key below. Make any changes needed and save.
14. Save as a pdf file format.

Excel 3 – Activity 2 – Imbedded Pie Charts
1. Open the Excel 3 Activity 2 Weekly Sales Pie Chart file from the shared drive.
2. Save the file as Per Last First Excel 3 Activity 2 Weekly Sales Pie Chart to your student drive in
your Excel 3 folder.
3. Update the header and footer in class format.
4. Update your document properties.
5. Highlight the cells A3:A7 and using the CTRL key, highlight I3:I7.
6. Insert a 3D pie chart from the Insert menu and move and resize it so it goes from the top of A10
to the bottom of I25.
7. Remove the legend by going to the Design tab, Add Chart Element, click on the Legend button
and choose none.
8. Remove the Chart Title.

9. Add data labels to the outside of each pie piece, percents and
category names by:
a. Click on the Design tab, Add Chart Element
b. Click on Data Labels
c. Choose More Data Label Options at the bottom of the
menu.
d. Click on Category Name
e. Remove the check from Value
f. Click on Percentage
g. Leave the check on Leader Lines
h. Click on Outside End in Label Position
i. Click on Close
10. Select cells B3:H3 go to Insert tab, Sparklines group, click Line
11. The Data Range should be already completed for you. In the
Location Range, type cell J3. Click OK.
12. Highlight B4:H4 and add a column Sparkline to cell J4.
13. Select cell J4 in the Design tab Sparkline color – choose Red,
Accent 2, Darker 25%.
14. Highlight B5:H5 and add a Win/Loss Sparkline to cell J5.
15. Select cell J5 in the Design tab Sparkline color – choose Olive Green, Accent 3, Darker 25%
16. Go to print preview and compare with the key below. Make any corrections as needed. Resave. Save the sheet in pdf format.
17. Using this chart, answer question #2 on the Chart Analysis Worksheet of your listening guide.

Excel 3 – Activity 3 – Imbedded Line Charts
1. Open the Excel 3 Activity 3 Weekly Sales Line Chart file from the shared drive.
2. Save the file to your student Excel 3 folder as Per Last First Excel 3 Activity 3
Weekly Sales Line Chart.
3. Create a line chart with Markers using the cells A3 to E7
a. Select cells A3:E7
b. Go to Insert, Line Chart, Line with Markers
c. Move and resize the chart to start at the top-left of F3 to the bottomright of M11
4. Remove the Chart Title.
5. Remove the borders from the chart area.
a. Right click on the bottom right corner of the chart, clicking in the white
area under the legend
b. Choose Format Chart Area
c. Click on Border
d. Choose No Line and then close
6. Create another line chart for Accessories Sales, following the same instructions as above in steps 3
through 5, except select A14:E19 and resize it to F14:M23.
7. Move the Legend to the Right if it shows at the bottom, remove the Chart Title-Update Header and
Footer in class format, and document properties.
8. Check Print Preview and compare with the Key below. Answer question #3 on the Chart Analysis
worksheet. Save the chart in PDF format.

Excel 3 – Activity 4 – Bar Chart
1. Open the Excel 3 Activity 4 Wage Comparison Bar Chart file from the shared drive.
2. Save the file to your student Excel 3 folder as Per Last First Excel 3 Activity 4 Bar Chart.
3. Add your name to the spreadsheet in place of the name “Your Name”.
4. Create a Bar chart for the i-phone-u-phone Employees comparing their Gross Pay for the week.
a. Highlight A3:A12, hold the CTRL key down and highlight J3:J12
b. Go to Insert, Bar and choose a Clustered Bar in 3-D
5. Move the Bar Chart to its own sheet by clicking on the Design Tab, choose Move Chart from the far
right side of the ribbon. On the Move Chart window, choose New Sheet and name it 3D Bar Chart
click OK.
6. Make the following changes to your Chart Sheet:
a. Update header and footer to class
format and document properties.
b. From the Layout Tab:
i. Remove the Legend
ii. Change the Chart Title to i-phone-uphone
iii. Change the font size to 28
iv. Add a subtitle by double clicking at
the end of the title, press enter and
type Wage Comparison-Change the
font for the subtitle to size 20
c. Show Data Labels from the Design Tab,
Add Chart Element, Data Labels button.
i. Format the numbers to Currency, 2
decimal places.
ii. Right click on one of the values, go to Format Data Labels, Choose Number and then choose
Currency.
d. Change the horizontal labels to currency also.
7. Go to Print Preview and compare with the key.
8. Go to the Chart Analysis Worksheet in your listening guide and answer question #4.
9. Re-save.
10. Save in pdf format

Excel 3 – Activity 5 (Extra Credit)
1. Open the Excel 3-Activity 5 Assignment from the shared drive.
2. Save the file as Per Last First—Excel 3-Activity 5 Stacked Column Chart Assignment to your Excel 3 folder.
3. Format the spreadsheet and create the 3D stacked column chart-- using Last Names, FICA, Medicare, FWT, SWT and
Net Pay (Use your control key to select the different sections highlight C4:C10 hold ctrl G4:K10).
4. Create a header/footer in class format, update document properties.
5. Page should be Portrait orientation, show column and row headings and gridlines—center page horizontally (Page
Setup, Margins). Save.
6. Save as a pdf.

Take a screensnipping of your Excel 3 folder, paste in Word—save as Per Last First Excel 3 Activity 6.
Print the file.
Staple to the back of your Packet.
Make sure all activities for Excel 3 are uploaded in pdf format to the edu20.org website.
