Proposal: Field Monitors for U8 for AYSO76

Beverly Hills AYSO Region 76
Field Monitors
Field Monitors are the "eyes" and "ears" of the region at the selected fields. When you arrive, try to
introduce yourself to the coaches so they know you are there. Since they may be in the middle of a game
when your shift begins, this may not be possible until the next set of games begin. During your shift, we
ask that you roam the fields since there will be multiple games going at the fields. The general duties are:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Help games start and end on time. Start times can be found on our schedules page, end times
are always NO LATER THAN 5 MINUTES BEFORE THE START OF THE NEXT GAME...if not
earlier.
Check that coaches have medical release forms for each player
Check that players are dressed appropriately (shin guards, safe shoes, no jewelry, etc)
Keep players, coaches, and spectators in the appropriate areas of the field
Observer whether coaches and spectators are displaying appropriate behavior
Remind teams to clean up any trash after their games are complete
Document and report any incidents or inappropriate behavior by coaches and spectators
Submit a Field Monitor Report for your shift. The form is on our website under Volunteers/Field
Monitors. If the form does not work for your browser, send an email with the information found on
the form to [email protected]
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WE ARE NOT ASKING YOU TO GET INVOLVED IN ANY CONFLICT. We
do not want you to get in the middle of “poorly behaved” individuals. We simply want you to report what
you see so the appropriate regional representatives can follow up and take appropriate action.
Point system: The Field Monitor Program is part of the AYSO 76 volunteer point program. Two points
can be earned for attending the course. One point Is earned for each field monitor shift. The points for
the course are not awarded until the volunteer has completed at least 3 Field Monitor shifts.
Scope: Currently we schedule Field Monitors in our U6 and U7/8 divisions. The following is a summary
of the game structure in those divisions:







Split squad games for each team, one half of team on each field.
U6 – 4 v 4, U 7/8 – 5 v 5. no goal keepers
U6 - Practice takes place during initial 20-25 minutes of the hour. Games take the remaining time,
with a break about half way thru the game.
U 7/8 – 20 minute halves, games begin right away..
During the break between halves, one team’s squads switch fields so they can play against a
different set of players.
Players are rotated in and out during the games during stoppages in play, not specific
“substitution breaks”.
One coach per team allowed on the field in U6 and U7. Referees in U8.
