Rules for Year 4 Soft Ball Cricket Competition
1. Maximum of 15 pupils per team, with 2 teams per class, with as many as you would like in the squad.
2. Continuous cricket will be the game played.
3. If you hit the ball you have to run, if you miss the ball you don’t run.
4. The player will run around a cone set on either side of the batting wicket, only one cone needs to be run
around, and then player runs back to the batting wicket.
5. Scoring shall be kept by the teachers or teaching assistants from each school involved in the game.
6. To score a run the child will have to hit the ball and run around a cone of their choice and back to the
batting stumps, only completed runs will count to the score e.g. if the child is running back to the batting
wicket, and they miss the ball on their 3 miss, the run will not count, neither will the run count if they are out
bowled attempting to run back to the batting wicket.
7. Each player has 3 lives, if they miss the ball 3 times, they are out, and the next batsman comes in to
bat.
8. Batsmen can also be out caught, e.g. the ball is struck but is caught by a fielder before it touches the
floor, the batsman can be caught if the ball first hits the walls or the ceiling.
9. The batsman can be out bowled, e.g. the ball strikes the batting wicket.
10. Noone can be out on the first ball they receive, whether they are out bowled or caught.
11. In each game the bowling will be delivered by a coach form Cricket Wales or Glamorgan, to ensure that
there is consistency in the delivery.
