House Winners - The winning house last week was Merlin.
The building work at the back of Foundation is starting to take shape. The area will be shuttered and will
be a really flexible space. It will allow the Foundation children to be outside in all weathers.
Shining Stars
We have launched our new certificates this week. The Shining Star cards are given to children each
week, the difference being that the children nominate the person who they think should receive praise.
The children are awarding Shining Star certificates to those pupils who are a good example to others,
those who make the right choices and who look after their friends and fellow classmates.
Stay and Play
We held the first of our Stay and Play sessions on Tuesday. It was great to see lots of families coming
and we hope the children enjoyed themselves. These sessions will run every fortnight and are open to
anyone with pre-school age pupils. People do not have to have children already in the school to enjoy our
facilities, so if you have friends with children who would like to come – please let them know.
British Values
The elected members of the Pupil Voice have started their roles by studying the results of the pupil wellbeing survey and identifying what they consider to be main priorities. Details of the survey, the Pupil
Voice and St Wilfrid’s commitment to British Values can all be found on the school website.
Year 5 Science Day
Our Year 5 children have been invited to Lymm High School next Friday to take part in a Science day
along with all the other partnership schools. Lymm have a fun packed day and I am sure the children will
have a great day. The children will need to bring a packed lunch and will be having lunch at the high
school. Could you please make sure you return all permission slips back to the school office.
Clubs Reminder
If your child is unable to attend an after school club, can you please let the school office know to avoid
telephone calls at the end of the day. If your child decides they no longer want to attend the club at all,
again could you let the school office know and we can allocate the place to another child.
Match Attacks
We have lots of our children bringing Match Attacks football cards into school to play with at lunch and
playtimes. The children are enjoying playing with them and we do not want to stop them coming into
school. However, things do get lost in school, so we would suggest the children do not bring in their
favourite cards or any rare or valuable ones. We cannot be responsible for any lost cards, there are
children who are getting upset as a result of these cards. If that is the case, it would be better if they do
not bring them in.
Reception Admissions
The deadline for September 2016 reception places is Friday, 15 January. Could you please ensure you
have completed our school application as well as the online application. The school forms are to be
handed in to the school office.
Each week in school our worship is focused on a Bible verse. Verse of the Week ‘Jesus was
baptised by John in the River Jordan’ from Mark 1:9. We look at Baptism and the welcome God gives
each of us if we come to him.
