The Swire group is a multinational, multi-disciplined commercial group, with its principal areas of
operations in the Asia Pacific region. The group’s business activities span six continents and five industrial
sectors, including Property, Aviation, Beverages & Food Chain, Marine Services and Trading & Industrial.
These interests come under its Hong Kong-based, publicly quoted arm, Swire Pacific Ltd. or are held
directly by the group’s UK-headquartered parent company, John Swire & Sons Ltd.
Founded in Liverpool, UK, in 1816, John Swire & Sons initially built its business on imports from North
America and the West Indies; in 1873, a branch office was opened in New York to develop a US market for its
growing trade with China and Japan. Today, the group’s interests in the USA range from property investment
and aircraft engineering to beverages and cold storage. Swire Properties is a key developer in Miami, with a
major mixed-use portfolio in the Brickell financial district. HAECO Americas – a part of leading global
aircraft engineering group, HAECO (in which Swire Pacific holds 75%) – is one of the largest independent
Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul providers in the country. The Swire group has been a strategic partner
to The Coca-Cola Company since 1965 and Swire Coca-Cola, USA is now the third largest independent
Coca-Cola bottler in the USA. Finlay Extracts and Ingredients USA is a leading supplier of tea, coffee and
natural extracts to the food and beverage industry in the USA. Wholly owned Swire subsidiary, United
States Cold Storage, is North America’s third largest Public Refrigerated Warehouse logistics provider.
