Expectations of the Athlete 1.Maintain good academic standing. 2.Be a positive example 3.Maintain good training procedures 4.Attend ALL practices and games. 5.Properly care for all equipment used in practice and games. 6.Keep parents informed of team information. PArent Expectations Parents are a part of this team too! Here's a few guidelines for parents: 1. Support the entire program from HPMS to HPHS. 2. Be a good "sounding board.” Volleyball can be demanding physically and mentally. 3. Do not plan activities that may conflict with your daughter's responsibilities to the team. 4. Do not undermine the coach's authority. 5. Do not coach from the stands. You are a spectator. 6. Share in the fun!! Bring friends and family to the games..."out cheer the competition!" 7. Try and take your daughter to several of the High School volleyball games to support the program. Ace Fee "ATHLETIC COMMITMENT to EXCELLENCE" Has been in place since 1994. $250 per student-athlete....PER YEAR. ACE fees collected by coaches OR paid online through Skyward ONLY. Every dollar of the ACE fee stays in HPISD. Due Friday, Sept 9 Ace Fee Deadline •All volleyball team members must have their ACE Fee paid by 3:30pm Friday, Sep 9th •Athletes with unpaid ACE Fees after the deadline will NOT participate in any practices or games until the ACE Fee is paid. •Will NOT play in McKinney Johnson Game Ace Fee Payment ▸ The ACE Fee can be paid online through Skyward (lunch account page) ▸ Check for ACE Fee can be given to the athlete’s head coach. ▸ Ace Fee waivers are available through the HP District Athletic Office. 7th Grade Practice 6:30 AM - 8:00 AM 8th Grade Practice 3:15 PM - 4:45 PM Trainer Hours 7:30 AM - 9 AM Missing Practice We want your daughter at practice! Excused: ▸Conflicts with other SCHOOL activities ▸Illness/Injury Not Excused: ▸ Tutorials ▸ Club sports ▸ Appointments More than 3 unexcused absences can lead to removal from the team Missing Practice *Any player that misses half of the school day on a game day will not be allowed to play in that game. If you know you are going to miss we want to know ASAP Volleyball Gear ▸ Athletes need to dress out in volleyball shirts that have already been distributed and black sliders/spandex everyday ▸ Every girl needs to wear kneepads every practice ▸ Ankle guards are encouraged for girls who have had ankle problems in the past ▸ Volleyball shoes, no running shoes!! Home Games ▸ All athletes will be dismissed from school at 3:15pm to eat and prepare for the games. ▸ Each team must arrive at least 45 minutes before their scheduled game. ○ GOLD - arrive by 4:15. Game at 5pm. ○ WHITE -arrive by 5:15. Game at 6pm. ○ RED - arrive by 6:15. Game at 7pm. Home Games ▸We would like the teams to stay and support their teammates. ▸Behavior at games is very important. Represent HPMS, your family, your team well. ▸All players must sit together in the designated area of the bleachers. ▸Players MUST pick up their trash. ▸Your daughter will need to work games as a line judge during the season. Away Games ● Players change into game clothes in HPMS locker room, ready to play when we leave. ● Bring EVERYTHING you had in the locker room with you to the game...you will not be back to your locker until the next morning. ● ALL players ride to the games on the bus. ● FOOD = Jersey Mike's subs Away Games ● Behavior at away games is expected to be polite and respectful. ● All players will sit together in the stands at away games. Rotations and Playing Time In volleyball, playing time is typically split up by who plays front row and back row. So, girls will be subbed in and out based on when they go from one to the other. There is no way to give equal playing time because their time on the court is directly related to how long they stay in each rotation. Not every girl can play the whole time every game.
