The course does not aim to transmit any particular messages or ready-made solutions to moral dilemmas in business but only to make students aware of the issues and to encourage them to reflect critically on them drawing on the resources of moral philosophy. The main goals of the lecture is to clarify two themes: (1) the relationship between ethics and effectiveness in business and corporations (2) the role of ethics as one of the crucial social competencies of managers.(3) presentation of various approaches to moral dilemma in business and world. Skrócony opis przedmiotu (brief course description) Introduction to the main themes of Business Ethics in an explicitly multicultural and international context and examining the critical discussions of the scope of CSR in general as well as many specific ethical issues of international business. In specific the main goals of the lecture is to clarify two themes: (1) the relationship between ethics and effectiveness in business and corporations (2) the role of ethics as one of the cru- 1 cial social competencies of managers.(3) presentation of various approaches to moral dilemma in business and world. Leading contemporary themes and issues in the subject; Globalisation; Sustainability and sustainable development; Kyoto. Stakeholder theory; the European Social Model and a comparison of North American and European approaches to the subject Leading approaches to moral philosophy which are of relevance to discussions in Business Ethics; comparison of their contrasting implications in relation to selected controversial issues. Critical analysis of the moral dimensions of a range of micro ethical issues that relate to the financial sector in the contemporary period in particular such as: moral hazard, insider trading, usury and extortion, bribery and corruption.
