We have a great variety of programs and groups to keep
you busy over the cooler months. If you’re on your way to
Italy then join Mila for a crash course in Italian, or if you’re
staying at home there are various movement classes on
offer. If you need assistance with your family research
project or you’re finding that laptop, smartphone or digital
device challenging, we have the programs for you!
We aim to engage with the community of Mt Eliza in a
meaningful way, so if you have ideas for programs or
would like to be involved through volunteering please feel
free to drop in and have a chat.
Become a member
Our yearly membership fee is $10.00. Becoming a member
enables you to enrol for these great courses we offer year
round. We will keep you up-to-date with what we offer via
regular enews and quarterly programs. Your membership
fee can be paid via EFT, cash or cheque

How do I enrol ?
By calling us and booking your place. We offer both
casual and full term payment options depending on the
course and your personal circumstances. Some classes will
only commence if there are sufficient numbers. Please call
us before enrolling to avoid disappointment.
Classes with low enrolments may be cancelled or deferred
by MENH and you will be advised prior to the commencement of the class.

FEES: No fees can be refunded due to the booking commitments of Tutors/Presenters. Fees in EXCESS of $100 per
term may be paid in two instalments – half PRIOR to the
first five weeks, and the remainder BEFORE the second five
weeks.

MINDFULNESS & MOVEMENT for 5 to 10 year olds
By focusing on 8 mindful mantras students focus on noticing
their thoughts, feelings and physical sensations and how this
can help them at school and every day.
There are 2 sessions to choose from on Mondays
Time: 4-4.40pm or 5-5.40pm
Cost: $15 per session
DIVERSIONAL ART THERAPY
This is an introduction to work in Diversional/Art Therapy
activities for those considering studying, or working in, aged
care. It will also suit carers or those who would like to use art
as a therapy at home. The tutor will take you through different
media and art methods used in Diversional Therapy.
Time: Tuesdays starting 2nd May— 13th June

Health and Wellbeing
WALKING GROUP
Start your day with an energetic walk and keep fit while
enjoying good company.
Date: Tues & Thurs leave at 8.30 am from the
House Cost: free
RAMBLERS
Enjoy a leisurely Saturday afternoon walk with
occasional day trips. Calendar of walks is available from
the office. We organize a bus trip and walk each October
for an additional fee.

WALKING FOR MEN
This won’t be a stroll, but a moderate paced 4km walk in and
around Mount Eliza.
If this sounds like the type of physical activity for you, then
come and join Lester and other men every Tuesday.

If you’re a mum, dad or grandparent looking for friendship or
support from like minded parents and carers then we would
love for you to join us. Enjoy crafts, music, Storytime and
access to our playground.

work with you to achieve your individual goals.

Join us for a nutritious pot luck lunch. Relax, make new friends
and chat with our lovely volunteers and staff.

FAMILY RESEARCH SOCIAL GROUP
This social group follows on from our first series.
Explore different ways to present family histories, the use of
computers and different formats, using a specialised
geneaology program, sharing resources and information.

OVER 55S COMPUTER DISCUSSION GROUP
Discussions or sharing can be on any topic. The main purpose is
to form friendships and have a chat about computer issues with
one another

INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING AND PAINTING
Unlock your artistic side with Andrea Jenkins. An accomplished
artist and teacher Andrea will help you unlock your creativity in

Language Groups
Enjoy social interactions with others and participate in
the
community. People with carers are especially welcome.
We offer a welcoming place for everyone to take part in
with various activities that may include coffee at a
local café, gardening, art, or cooking .
If you are recovering from ill health, experiencing
isolation or just need a chat and a cuppa—everyone is
welcome. Lunch is provided.

FRENCH CONVERSATION AFTERNOONS
Join Sabine and speak French! For the more advanced
students, incorporating conversation, grammar,
pronunciation and discussion.

ITALIAN TUITION WITH MILA
This colloquial super crash course is practical and aims to
get you speaking the language in 8 weeks. You will learn
proper pronunciation, how to introduce yourself, hints
about the culture, all in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

to hear from you. We have a very experienced
tutor who is available to teach, we just need a

MOUNT ELIZA MEN’S SHED
EMBROIDERY & SEWING GROUP
We are a social group of embroiderers who come together
each Monday for the enjoyment of sharing our embroidery
projects. Prerequisite is a sense of humour - we like to
laugh.
Our Men’s Shed is open to anyone who would like to drop in
for a chat, enjoy good company or learn and share skills. It’s a
place for blokes to gather, work or support each other.
You don’t need to be handy, or have any particular experience. Just come and hang out. We have a lot of fun and get
involved in all sorts of community activities.
Time: 9.30am—12.30pm from Friday 5th May—23rd June
Cost: 8 week course $200.00 plus $20 for materials
If you have recently bought an Embroidery machine and
need a little help feel free to come down and get some
advice from the friendly ladies.
MAH JONG GROUPS

We have big plans for our little shed and we’re looking for
more members to help us grow and evolve.
Whether you are an experienced player or just interested in
learning, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Our Mah Jong group meet each Monday morning and evening .

KNIT AND NATTER
Bring yourself, your knitting needles , your favourite
wool and join us for an afternoon of making fabulous
knits and having great natter, over a cuppa, all for a
good cause. We’re part of KOGO (Knit one, Give one) a
Melbourne based NFP where volunteers knit or crochet
garments which KOGO then delivers to needy people.

MOUNT ELIZA WRITERS CENTRE
Writing is a solitary art and Mt. Eliza Writers Centre is a
dynamic environment offering opportunities for mutual
learning within a supportive group. Whether you’re an
aspiring writer or have years of experience you’re
welcome to join us. Bring 5 pages of your own work and
receive verbal and written feedback.
From 19th April then every second Wednesday

Enjoy the companionship of others who share an interest in
craft. The craft group has been meeting at the House for over
25 years and is still going strong! No matter what style or type
of craft you are working on or would like to work on there is
always someone to help and guide you.
