Programme South Baltic Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020
http://2014-2020.southbaltic.eu/index
Priority Axis 1 - Strengthening international activeness and innovation capacity of
the South Baltic blue and green economy
Specific Objective 1.2 - Improve the transfer of innovation for the benefit of blue and
green sector SMEs through joint cross-border actions
Concept The Baltic Sea is a growth region in tourism development. This
means among others growing demand for energy, increased use of
resources and raising amount of waste. The tourism sector involves a
diverse range of actors, but the smallest entrepreneurs plays in them
special role. They have a big potential for offering green tourism
products and services, as well as for being an incentive, able to
change consumers’ behaviour.
Circular economy is an alternative to a „make-use-dispose” (linear)
economy. It offers the ability to understand how things influence
one another within a whole. The concept of circular economy
assumes minimizing of the environmental impact of products by
designing them in a way which enables to take the maximum value
from product whilst in use, regenerate it during its life-cycle and to
recover/reuse its materials at the end.
With our project, we intend to prepare SMEs acting in costal tourism
sector in the South Baltic Region to take the opportunity offered by
circular economy. Elements of this economic idea, implemented into
business models of SMEs, can be drivers for green products and
services in costal tourism. Resource efficiency, better waste
management, eco-friendly mentality can increase competitiveness of
SMEs, bring for them real savings and what is more important –
improve their innovativeness and create new business opportunities.
The main aim of the project will be increasing of the innovation
capacity of SMEs from the costal tourism sector by applying in their
activities business models based on circular economy and
sustainable product/service life-cycle management.
Main project activities will focus on concrete, real and measurable
actions such as: provision and testing of cross-border training and
business advisory services to costal tourism SMEs from the South
Baltic area. Moreover, collection of good practices and joint
promotional activities are planned.
