HFMA West Midlands Branch Stronger Together Maximise your Impact and Time Management for Human Beings 25 June 2015, Birmingham * Free of Charge (only members will receive CPD certificates)* HFMA provide a vital network for finance staff in what is becoming an increasingly fragmented healthcare system. HFMA’s “Stronger Together” initiative is all about supporting each other, building networks and partnerships, sharing ideas and good practice and working together. As part of this initiative we are offering a range of opportunities aimed specifically at helping HFMA members to face the challenge of developing and maintaining robust relationships during a time of intense service pressures. Agenda 9.15 Registration 9.30 Workshop 1: Maximise your Impact Neuroscience can teach us a lot about what it takes to impress other people, and how to nudge them into behaving in ways that we like. This workshop will explain how all human beings have ‘two brains’, and how to use this knowledge to increase your impact at work. Why personal impact is often irrational, and the implications of this for you Making the right first impression: understanding how people assess you Why should they listen to me? The relationship between technical expertise, confidence and credibility Getting your point across in ‘difficult’ meetings Understanding power and presence: finding your own gravitas The science of influencing people 12.30 Lunch 1.30 Workshop 2: Time Management for Human Beings A lot of time management advice seems to be based on the mistaken assumption that people are like machines – it’s all about finding a more efficient daily process. This workshop takes a different view: human beings have temperaments, moods and biorhythms. In other words, good time management is a highly individual challenge, and one approach won’t suit everyone. Understanding your ‘time management type’ The place, and limitations, of self-discipline. How to handle your conflicting impulses during the day Working with your natural rhythms and moods Taking back control of your email Ways of making interruptions work for you How to make changes in your way of working that actually stick 4.30 Close About the Facilitator Peter English Peter established his consultancy practice in 1997 after a career in the NHS, social care and biomedical science.
