RONCALLI GIRLS’ BASKETBALL GAME NOTES
GAME 5 RHS VS. CATHEDRAL * NOV. 19, 2016
LAST GAME RECAP - VS. BISHOP CHATARD
• The Lady Rebels used a stingy third-quarter defense to pull away from Bishop Chatard and
post a 61-38 win at “The Woodshed” on Thursday night.
• Roncalli led 25-20 at the half, then crafted a 20-4 run to start the second half. During the
run, the Lady Rebels converted steals into layups on four out of five possessions.
• For the second straight game, Roncalli had four players score in double figures. Lauren
Fey paced Roncalli with 14 points, for her highest scoring game since last year’s season opener
at Perry Meridian. Paige Saylor and Katelyn McClary each added 12 points, and for McClary, it was her second straight 12-point game. Anna Bauer contributed a career-high 10
points off the bench.
• Roncalli shot a season-best .469 (23-of-49) from the field and forced a season-high 26
turnovers.
• With the win, Roncalli improved to 2-0 in Circle City Conference play.
NOTES
• Dating back to last season, Roncalli has won six straight home games and 10 of its last 11
games at “The Woodshed.”
• In four seasons under head coach Stan Benge, the Lady Rebels are 16-2 in November
games. Both of the losses (2014 and 2016) were to Pike. Counting tonight’s game, the Lady
Rebels have three more November games.
NEXT RONCALLI OPPONENT - CARDINAL RITTER
• The Lady Rebels hit the road for their annual night before Thanksgiving game with Cardinal Ritter.
• The Raiders are 2-1 this season and play at Danville tonight.
• Roncalli has won 20 straight over Cardinal Ritter.
RONCALLI IN “THE WOODSHED”
The Lady Rebels play their home games in an 1,100-seat gym known as “The Woodshed.” The
gym hosted its first game in November of 1962, when the school was known as Bishop Chartrand
High School. In the fall of 1969, John F. Kennedy Memorial High School merged with Bishop
Chartrand to form Roncalli High School, whose teams would be known as the Rebels. Over
the years, the gym became known as “The Woodshed” due to the cozy and intense atmosphere.
Since the 1995-96 season, the Lady Rebels are 128-68 (.653) at home. Dating back
to January 25, 2011, the Lady Rebels are 46-7 at “The Woodshed.” Roncalli posted a perfect 9-0 home record in 2013-14 and has won 41 of its last 47 home games.
