Invitation to Send Company Profiles
The role of the Office of the Prime Minister is to coordinate and supervise the execution of the
functions and affairs of the Government of Kenya, in order to make the Government work better.
This requires openness to doing Government business differently and to working as one properly
coordinated Government. By facilitating such changes OPM will make government work more
effectively for the people of Kenya. It is upon this background that the Prime Minister Launched
the Greening Kenya Initiative (GKI) in Nkore and Kodera forest in June 2011 to coordinate and
support innovative green initiatives in the country.
The Greening Kenya Initiative (GKI) is a flagship programme coordinated by the Office of the
Prime Minister of Kenya. Its main aim and objective is to catalyze demand-driven green
consumerism, backed by a strong, green industrial revolution and enhanced environmental
protection through public participation in green initiatives. It especially targets tree planting and
diffusion of green technologies throughout the country.
The Office of the Prime Minister under the Greening Kenya Initiative (GKI) in partnership with
the Kenya National Cleaner Production Centre (KNCPC), Department of Foreign International
Development (DFID) and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is
now inviting all Knowledge Based Institutions (Universities, Research Institutions, colleges),
civil society organizations, private companies, Community Based Organizations, Self Help
Groups, Faith Based Organizations, Non-governmental Organizations who are involved in
green initiatives for the economic development of Kenya and livelihood support to submit
electronically one page profile detailing their green activities, innovative ideas and innovations at
local, national and international level to the email given below. The information will be
consolidated to enable the institutions to be mainstreamed and their institutional capacities
strengthened through Greening Kenya Initiative. The deadline for submission 15th April 2012
