Governor’s Newsletter January 2017 The All Saints Governing Body is made up of nine people – the full list is on the school website. The faces below are the ones that you will most likely see in the school playground, please come and talk to us anytime if you have any questions or feedback. Lucy Thompson Chairperson Amy Mayes Curriculum, Children and standards Terry Raven Finance and personnel Louise Walters Teacher representative What do we do? The Governing body drive and support strategic planning in partnership with Mrs Bedford and her staff. By understanding the school’s strengths and development areas, by reviewing and approving policies and working towards the school’s development plan (on the website), we ensure high standards of educational achievement and improvement. We make sure the school effectively manages it’s finances, recruitment, buildings, performance management, professional development and pupil achievement. We both support and challenge the head and her team; holding them to account for decisions and outcomes but also supporting them with exciting new projects and initiatives. The team also ensure that the curriculum is balanced and broadly based within a Christian ethos. Finally, we assist building partnerships which promote the best interests of our children and the school with the local community and other schools and organisations. School update and useful information Trust Fund The school trust fund will be re launched in the coming months. With increased budget constraints and cuts, this source of income is vital to the short and long term prosperity of the school. It will be used for specific school projects that benefit the children. Recently money from the fund has been used to contribute towards the interactive whiteboards. Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS). As a Church of England School, we have an extra level of inspection. This is a good thing – it looks at educational standards as well as the teaching of Religious Education. The inspection team will be assessing and evaluating the distinctiveness and effectiveness of the school as a church school. The school will be inspected in the autumn term this year. Sara, Lucy and Amy have recently attended the Guildford Diocese SIAMS Training Course and will be implementing their action plan with the support of parents, staff and governors. The plan will enhance the already great work done in the school which centres around our 3 values of LOVE, PERSERVERANCE and JOY. FAQ’s. 1.
