School & Player Eligibility
 The Championships are open to all schools in England (inc. Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of
 Man and Isle of Wight).
 Selected players must be on the Register of the school they represent. If a player
changes school during the Championships they are eligible to represent their new
school once registered.
 Players within the Key Stage 3 competition must be in school years 7, 8 or 9.
 Players within the Key Stage 4 competition must be in school years 10 or 11
 Years 7, 8 or 9 are not eligible to play in the Key Stage 4 event. If an ineligible
player(s) is/are
fielded their scores will be discounted.
Team & Match Format
 If a school has entered 2 or more teams then the ‘1st’ or ‘A’ Team shall be
considered
the strongest.
 A player may only play for one team per round.
 A player may play up into a stronger team provided that they have not already played
for another team in that same round.
 A player may not play down into a weaker team if they have already represented a
stronger team in a match or have been nominated for a stronger team.
 Players participating in the final must have represented their school in at least one
previous round.

If a team cannot play all of the matches within a round, then they will be scratched
and
their scores discounted.
 The winner of each event in each round will progress to the next round. In the case
of
two SSPs (or an SSP and Independent Schools) running a combined first round, one
winner will progress from each (SSP/Independent School).
 If a team drops out of the Championships at any point then the next best placed team
from the last round will progress.
Shuttles
Schools/CM’s are to provide shuttles for the first (SSP) round, BADMINTON England to
provide
shuttles for the following rounds. These will be cork based nylon synthetic shuttles.
Rules
Format
 Each School must arrive with 4 players in their
team.
 Players to be ranked 1, 2, 3, 4
 Player 1 plays singles only versus the opposition
school Player 1
 Player 2 plays singles only versus the opposition school Player 2
 Players 3 and 4 play doubles only versus the opposition Players 3 and 4
 Each match therefore is made of 3 games, 2 singles and 1 doubles
Court Allocation.
Court 1 = All Boy 1’s for singles
Court 2 = All Boy 2’s for singles
Court 3 = All Boy 3&4’s for doubles
Court 4 = All Girl 1’s for singles
Court 5 = All Girls 2’s for singles
Court 6 = All Girls 3&4’s for doubles.
An order of play will be available to all schools and on each court so players can
see when their next game is.
Game Scoring
 Each game is played up to 11 points. No two-points clear.
 Rally scoring, i.e a point is scored on each rally.
 Umpire will toss a coin (or shuttle) to determine the first server
In Singles
 Serve from the right if server’s score is even, from the left if servers score
is odd
 If the server wins the rally, they win a point and retain serve.
 If the receiver wins the rally, they win a point and gain serve.
In Doubles
 If the server wins the rally, they win a point and retain serve
 If the receiver wins the rally, they win a point and gain serve
 When serve next passes to
Match scoring
 Each match between two schools is the best of three games (Singles 1,
Singles 2, Doubles)
 The games result (e.g 3-0, 2-1) will be used to determine the overall
competition score.
 In the event of a tie on games, the total points scored will be used to
determine the winners.
Progression

The winner of each category will progress to represent Barnet at the North
London Final in February.
