Organized Chaos

Thank you for purchasing Organized Chaos! Organized Chaos is a fast, fun, and
exciting game that pits you against your opponents with one simple objective:
Don’t run out of all your cards. However, don’t be fooled by the simple objective!
You will be tested in many ways, and perhaps if you make smart moves and think
strategically then you will emerge victorious. Accomplishing the objective will be
much harder than it seems especially since you are racing against opponents that

may win the game. Think you are winning big time? Seconds later you are losing
horribly. Got a strategy you think works every time? Not so much. Prepare for
excitement and disappointment, structure and disarray, this is Organized Chaos!

Blue Deck (40 cards)
Red Deck (40 cards)
Green Deck (40 cards)
Yellow Deck (40 cards)
How to win:
Be the only player with one or more cards in your draw pile. Said another way,
force your opponents to lose ALL of their cards before yours are gone!
Setup
Before the game starts each player should take a deck and corresponding token
and shuffle their deck and put it face down in front of them. Place your matching
colored token in front of your deck so everyone can see it. This marks your draw
pile. Like many card games you will have a discard pile next to your draw pile as
cards are used.
Gameplay
Once the decks are in place, each player may draw one card into their hand (don’t
show anyone).
Use the following progression to determine who will go first:
1. If this is not the first game, the person who was out first in the previous
game (clearly you need every advantage you can get)
2. If only one player is female she goes first (Hello? Ladies first!)
3. The eldest female (Respect your elders young punks)
4. The eldest male (Geez losers, don’t you guys know any women?)
5. If you still don’t know who goes first you aren’t very good at following
directions so just pick someone for goodness sake!
After the first player completes his or her turn, play continues counter clockwise.
A Turn of Organized Chaos:
The mechanics of a turn are fairly basic, but your decisions won’t necessarily be.
You have choices to make... Will you try to “BURN” your opponent’s cards sending
them to the discard pile? Or will you “REFRESH” your own deck by putting cards
back into it? Or do you have a powerful card that could turn the game upside
down?
The turn sequence is as follows:
1. Draw the top card from your deck into your hand
2. You MUST now play one card from your hand. Place it in the middle of
the table for all to see. Choose which side of the card you would like to
play and follow the instructions on that side of the card.
***Important - Unless otherwise noted you must always discard the
card AFTER completing the actions on the card.
3. After card instructions have been carried out, place the card in the
discard pile.
4. You should never end a turn with more (or less) than ONE card in your
hand. If you have 2 cards you must play one. If you do not have a card,
draw one before you end your turn.
5. Your turn ends and the next player may begin his or her turn.
Card Rules
Burn/Refresh Card – There are many cards of this type in the deck.
If you choose to “BURN” cards, choose an opponent. They must take that number
of cards off the top of their draw pile and place them directly in their discard pile.
All abilities of the discarded cards are ignored and the cards may not be
reordered.
If you choose to “REFRESH” cards, take that number of cards directly off the top
of your discard pile and place them on the BOTTOM of your draw pile in ANY order
you choose.



If there are not enough cards to “burn” the full amount, the remaining
cards are burned and that player is out when the last card is burned.
If the last card of a deck is drawn and the player is able to play a “Refresh”
card (or other card that refills the deck) the cards are moved from the
discard pile to the deck and the player is NOT out
If a Refresh card is played and the number is greater than the number of
cards in the discard pile, move all the cards from the discard pile to the
bottom of the draw pile
Card Rules (continued)
Flip/Flop Card – When you play a Flip card, choose yourself or another player. The
chosen player must flip their draw pile over and play from the face up side of their
draw pile. When you play Flop, choose a player whose deck has been flipped and
the draw pile will revert back to normal (face down) in that situation (Flop).
Switch/Exchange Card – When you play Switch, choose an opponent. You must
switch your draw pile, discard pile, and cards in hand with that opponent. Switch
must be discarded before the exchange is made. Players now continue with their
new decks as normal. Switch is very powerful and can help you snatch victory
from the jaws of defeat. Exchange allows you to take a card from your discard pile
and replace it with Exchange. You must play an additional card during your turn.


If Organized or Chaos is in play it switches too
Once you control the new deck it is your deck. You win and lose the game
as if you were playing with the deck all along.
Replace/Recycle Card – When you play Replace, all opponents must discard the
card in their hand and draw a new one from the top of their draw pile. When you
play Recycle, you may take a card from the top or bottom of your discard pile into
your hand. With Recycle you must play another card in the same turn.
Redirect/Reverse Card – This card may be played on an opponent’s turn. You may
play Redirect after an opponent plays a card that targets you or another player.
You must now choose a new player as the target of that card. You may choose
anyone including yourself or the original player who played the card. Because
Redirect is used on an opponent’s turn, you MUST immediately draw a new card
into your hand to replace it.
Reverse is played on your turn, discard it immediately and play goes in the
opposite direction, you may not be the target of any card until you next turn.




Redirect must be played before the opponents card action has begun. You
can quickly share your intention to play redirect by stating “Redirect!” out
loud before any actions are taken.
You may play Redirect in response to another Redirect to control the
choice of who will be the new target. The last player to play redirect gets
the choice and the others are ignored.
You may not use Redirect on cards that affect multiple players.
Redirect does not allow you to change the choice of how to use the
opponent’s card. Example: If opponent uses Reset on themselves to place
their discard pile back in their draw pile you may use Redirect to allow
yourself to do so instead. But you may not redirect back on the player or
another opponent to make them remove their discard pile from the game.
Card Rules (continued)
Reset Card – When you play Reset discard it immediately and choose an option:
1. Place your entire discard pile on the bottom of your draw pile OR 2. Choose an
opponent. Permanently remove all cards currently in his or her discard pile from
the game.



If Reset is played and no opponent has any cards in their discard pile you must
use the other ability and move your discard pile to the bottom of your draw
pile.
If Reset is played and the player does not have any cards in the discard pile he
must use it on an opponent.
If Reset is played and no player has any cards in their discard pile, discard
Reset without any effect.
Organized Card – Organized must be played immediately when it is drawn and
counts as your play for the turn. Organized stays in play in front of you and while it
is in play, you may play up to 2 Burn/Refresh cards per turn. You may not play 1
Burn/Refresh and 1 special card. If you played 2 cards, make sure you draw a
card before your turn is ended. If another player already has Organized in play
when you play it, they must immediately place theirs in their discard pile.
Chaos Card – Chaos must be played immediately when it is drawn and counts as
your play for the turn. Chaos stays in play in front of you and while it is in play, you
may NOT use the Refresh ability. If another player already has Chaos in play when
you play it, they must immediately place theirs in their discard pile.
Organized Chaos - If at anytime you control both Organized and Chaos you MUST
put the two cards side by side to create Organized Chaos. The individual abilities
of each card are ignored and you now have the special ability which allows you to
automatically when the game if you run out of cards from your draw pile. Yes,
that’s right – you cannot lose while you have Organized Chaos in play.
Additionally, you may not be the target of Switch. Opponents must furiously try to
get one of their copies in play before you deplete their decks or are able to draw
out your own deck.
Additional rules and rule clarifications:




Once the game starts there should not be any need to shuffle
No player may look through any opponent’s discard pile but you may look
through your own discard pile.
No player may look through any draw pile at any time during game play
Unless specified by a card, no cards may be rearranged or reordered at any
time
Winning the Game
When the last card of a player’s draw pile is placed in the discard pile that player
is out.
When only one player has cards left in his or her draw pile, that player is the
winner!
There is another way to win if you control both the Organized and Chaos cards. If
you control both of these cards you win if you run out of cards in your draw pile.
If you win, rub it in and tell your opponents how much smarter you are. You must
accept any rematch request if you have not won at least two games of Organized
Chaos in succession. (Hey even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then…
prove you really are just better).
Easy right? Ha! We shall see… You can start playing NOW!
