Dear Captain
Welcome to the 15 Week Action Cricket Winter 2017 League. We take this opportunity to
thank you for your continued support and extend a warm welcome to all new teams joining us
this season. Being a Team Captain isn’t always easy but it does have its rewards – seeing your
team win a close game, seeing your team lose a game but having a great time on the court,
and of course having your team buy you drink or two when you make the playoffs!
LEAGUE DETAILS
The league will run for 15 weeks from: 28 June 2017 (Main League) OR 4 July 2017
(Corporate League) with 2 weeks allocated for Semi’s and Finals. Game fees are set at R
560-00 per game, with one game played per week for the duration of the League, excluding
reschedules.

GAME TIMES, CONFIRMATIONS AND FORFEITS
Every effort will be made on the part of Arena Management to schedule games to play at your
preferred times, taking into account your oppositions time / day preferences. Rescheduled
matches will be fixtured according to court availability – usually on a Sunday, Friday or 22h00
slots. Games will take place at 17h20, 18h30 and 19h40.
***Teams wishing to reschedule any game will be required to contact the opposing
captain to arrange the re-fixture after obtaining the relevant details from the office.
Please note: Games will only be re-fixtured under extreme circumstances and require 72 hours
notice. Any forfeit (48 hours notice is required of cancellations) will be paid for in
FULL by said team (R 1120.00). This also applies to no-shows.
All Team Captains are to confirm their next game with the arena one week prior to
the game. Any team withdrawing from the league will be liable for a withdrawal fee
of R 1000-00, and any unplayed fixture will be regarded as a forfeit.
For a team to qualify for finals, all games must be played in the competition.
REGISTRATION CARDS AND MATCHING SHIRTS
One (1) point per match will be awarded to teams who play in matching shirts from the third
game. Please note that players are not allowed to wear jeans, boots or black-soled shoes on
the court. Registration Cards must be completed each week by the team captain before the
start of each match.
(This is your way of qualifying players for finals games – 1/3 of the games need to be played)
No points are awarded for this but instead points are awarded for game fees being paid and
kept up to date – see Point Allocation.
REGRADING
Regrading will take place after four (4) league games and will affect fixtures from round six
(6)
PAYMENT
Sandton Arena enforces a strict 'no pay, no play' policy. All game fees need
to be paid before the start of your games. Should you be waiting for
sponsorship to come through it is advised that you pay per game and claim
the money back. This not only ensures no problems on the night of your
games (being unable to play), but also ensures you do not lose the 5 bonus
points per game that's awarded should your fees be paid and kept up to
date. Registration payment into the league due by your 3rd game (latest),
to ensure your team receives the 10 bonus points for this. Points for
payment and Registration Fees are NOT back dated
LATE STARTS
This is one of the major causes of inconvenience and disruption to the players. To avoid this,
please ensure that your team arrives 10-15 minutes before schedule game time, ready to take
the court as soon as players from the previous time slot vacate it. The following will apply to
late starts caused by absent teams / players:
5 Minutes Late > 5 Ball overs
10 Minutes Late > 4 Ball overs
15 Minutes Late > Team Forfeits
DISPUTES
Loading of Teams
It is important to note that any complaint or enquiry must be lodged with the
Manager on Duty before the start of the 13th over of the first innings. Results cannot
be altered after the game has been completed nor can games be replayed. PLEASE NOTE: A
player may be registered for more than one team providing the teams for which he /
she plays for are not in the same league.
GRAND FINALS
Teams unable to field a team for Finals will be held liable for the full court fee of
R 1120.00 and it will be noted as a forfeit, once again these dates will not be moved
and changes will not be made – no exceptions will be made as it disrupts the year
planner / calendar.
