AIRPLANES2

In this event you will be
building 2 paper airplanes, one
designed for traveling a great
distance and one designed to
be airborn for the greatest
time.
Objective






Your plane must be built from one an 8.5 x 11 inch
piece of plane white paper. You may use the scratch
paper in the box up front, but when it runs out you
must provide your own paper.
Your plane may not have anything else on it. No
tape, glue, spit, paperclip etc. Just a single piece of
paper.
If you wish to cut your paper that is up to you.
In the end you can only fly 1 single piece of paper.
Each team must have two planes, one for each event.
All planes must be built in this room. No planes
built outside of this room may be used on testing
day.
Plane Building Codes



On test day each team will be allowed to
submit two planes. One for distance and one
for time.
Each team will be given 1 throw only for each
trial.
If a plane lands behind the start line that trial
will not be counted and the team will be given
a retrial. If the plane fails to go past the start
line 3 times the team is given a distance or time
of 0 for that trial.
Testing day





Each team will fly their distance plane first. The
distance is measured from the start line to the
location were the plans touches the ground, not
were it stops sliding.
There is no running up to the start line to throw. You
must stand still and no part of your body can cross
the start the start line.
Everyone must stand on the ground and use no aids
in the throwing of their plane.
After every distance plan has been thrown each
team will thrown their time plane.
The time is measured by the judge from the moment
it leaves the throwers hand to when it first touches
the ground.
Testing Day


A teams final score will be created by adding
their distance total (in meters) to their time
total (in seconds).
Every team will be ranked from greatest final
score to least with the top 2 teams earning a
10/10, the next two a 9.9/10 and so on.
Scoring

Any team who breaks any of the above rules
will be docked 1 point for each violation from
their final score.
