Conflict, Violence and Aggression Training needs analysis Under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 employers have a duty to ensure the health, safety and welfare of their staff. Where they may be at risk this must be assessed, documented and staff provided with adequate information, instruction and training. This training needs analysis should be accompanied by the individual violence and aggression risk assessment The list is not exhaustive and if your job type or description does not meet any of the criteria in the table it is advised that you complete the Training needs analysis below. 1 hour toolbox talk session Office Staff with minimal contact with the public (telephone) but may need conflict skills Reception staff who need skills in resolving minor issues One stop shop staff who will deal with a multitude of behaviours and require skills for de-escalation and conflict prevention training Support workers or travelling officers who work outside office hours and have unrestricted access with the public. ½ Day conflict management Training 1 day formal training through accredited trainer YES YES Optional by Assessment Of Need YES Optional by Assessment Of Need YES YES Training Needs Analysis Each section will have a description regarding your workplace. A carful analysis of needs for dealing with conflict is critical if staff are to effectively understand violence in the workplace. Training alone is not a sufficient tool to eliminate workplace violence but combined with robust policy, procedure and management will enable staff to possess the capability and attitude to identify, prevent and deal with workplace violence and aggression.
