Students also split into men’s and women’s time and learned from guest speakers Jay Lorenzen, an Air Force
Lt. Col, and Mary Kassian, a professor at Southern Baptist Seminary. Also teaching God’s Word was Richard
Smith, pastor of HopePoint Community Church in Spartanburg, SC.
Often students need advice about specific life challenges, and they
were given the opportunity to attended two “breakout sessions”
taught by Campus Crusade staff. These small group times included
topics like: ‘Dating Relationships Redefined’, ‘Equipping You to
Share Christ with Confidence’ and ‘Sharing Your Story in a Broken
World.’
One of the most powerful events
of Winter Conference was a oneman theatrical play called, “The
Bema,” performed by Campus
Crusade staff member Charlie
Schaller. The play is about the
return of Christ and the Biblical
truth that every believer will
stand before God and give
account for what they did with
the time, talents, and treasure
they were entrusted with.
Throughout winter conference, students were able to fully immerse themselves and encounter Jesus Christ in
different creative and experiential ways. Many reflected on how the Lord’s hand is moving internationally in
the Global Village, while others took an hour out of their schedules

to walk and meditate through a guided prayer journey. Students were even encouraged
to show how they encountered Christ in an Art Expression room.
On Dec. 31st, students participated in “Encounter:
Compassion,” by serving in various projects and
outreaches to the surrounding Greensboro communities.
Throughout the day, hundreds of families in need
received food and products and some heard the gospel
of Jesus Christ.
Encounter 2010 came to powerful end New Years Eve night when more than a thousand students and staff
joined together to pray in the new year and celebrate what God did in 2010 and what he will do in 2011.
