Terms and Conditions: “THE BIG EUQ QUIZ” 1. Concept and organisation 1.1. These competition rules set out the terms and conditions applicable to participation in “the big EU Q quiz.” Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions. 1.2. The terms and conditions are drafted in accordance with current Belgian regulations. 1.3. “The big EU Q test” is an online quiz organised by EPOS vzw in its capacity as the Flemish National Europass Centre. The Quiz is actively supported by the Europass Centres from the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Ireland, Portugal and Spain. 1.4. The quiz can be accessed via the websites available in Dutch, French, German, English, Spanish and Portuguese. 2. General principles 2.1. The decisions of the organising party (EPOS vzw) - regarding the competition, participation in the competition, the nomination of the winners, the application of these terms and conditions and all the issues that are not explicitly covered by these terms and conditions are binding and final. All issues that are not addressed explicitly in these rules shall be settled independently by the organizer. 2.2. Users who use fraudulent means, or means which are in breach of the normal running of the competition and users who, as an example but not limited to, hinder the registration process by other users, manipulate the proper functioning of the website or breach the terms and conditions, may also be excluded from taking part in the competition and future competitions organised by EPOS vzw. EPOS vzw maintains the exclusive right, at its absolute discretion, to disqualify individuals in the situation when a fraud, abuses or deception are suspected. EPOS vzw maintains the right to make changes to the competition, including the rules and regulations, as well as postponement or shortening of the duration of the competition, when required and without prior notice. All changes to the terms and conditions will be published at www.Europass-vlaanderen.be in Dutch and English. 2.3. Print, game and placing or translation errors cannot be held against EPOS vzw as a breach of any obligation whatsoever. 2.4. These terms and conditions are made available in Dutch, French, German, English, Portuguese and Spanish. In case of any dispute between different language versions, the Dutch version will always prevail. 2.5. EPOS vzw or third parties engaged by EPOS for the competition cannot under any circumstance or under any juridical ground be held liable for any, whatever the nature, disadvantage or damage suffered by the participant. EPOS vzw do not assume any responsibility with respect to any technical malfunction of the hardware or software, interruption to the Internet connection, loss or damage of information or incorrectly formulated questions. Under no circumstances can EPOS vzw be held accountable for accidents while participating in the quiz, indirect participation costs (e.g. the Internet connection costs, software and hardware costs), direct or indirect damage that can be a result of participation in the current competition and prize attribution. 3. Participation in the competition and fraud. 3.1. Participation requires registration on one of the quiz websites. The participants must be RESIDENTS of one of the following countries: Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Spain or Portugal. Residents of other countries can participate in the quiz, but cannot win any prizes. 3.2. Employees, their family members or anyone else connected in any way to the competition and EPOS vzw and the above-mentioned Europass Centres, can participate in the competition but cannot win any prizes. 3.3. The registration is required to play the on-line quiz. The participant can start playing the game and compete for the prizes after selecting the language and providing his/her email address, username, password and the country of residence. 3.4. EPOS vzw will only use the submitted data of the participants (email address, username and the country of residence) to communicate about the competition and Europass. This data will not be processed in an electronic database nor will it be transmitted to third parties. 3.5. EPOS vzw guarantees the data submitted by the participant will be collected and processed in an honest and fair way in line with the Belgian privacy law of 8 December 1992 concerning the protection of the personal privacy regarding processing of personal data. The participants have the right, as prescribed by the privacy law, to take note of their personal data. The participants have the right to request a correction or deletion of all the data that concern them free of charge. The participants can exercise their right by sending a request with a clear reference to the BIG EUQ test 2015 in Dutch or English to [email protected]. 3.6. Only one registration per participant is permitted; multiple entries from one player using different electronic addresses, different identities or by other means, is not permitted. EPOS vzw can disqualify the participant instantaneously from this or any future competitions when fraud is suspected. 3.7. Minors can participate in the competition, if they obtained permission from their parents (or from their legal guardian) prior to entering the competition. Hence, if a minor participates, s/he needs to be able to present this permission when required. Epos vzw reserves the right to ask for a written proof of this permission at any time. Epos vzw has the right to disqualify any minor who cannot immediately or within a reasonable timeframe determined by EPOS vzw, present written proof of this permission. 4. Runtime and timing 4.1. The competition runs from Thursday October 1, 2015 00:00 Brussels time until Saturday October 31, 2015 00:00 Brussels time. 4.2. The competition ends on Saturday October 31, 2015 at midnight. Late entries will not be admitted and the contestants with late entries will not be able to win a prize. 5. Gameplay 5.1. The participant can start playing the game after selecting the language and providing his/her email address, username, password and the country of residence. Each contestant can play the quiz a maximum of 20 times. 5.2. The gameplay of the quiz is dynamic. Initially, each participant gets 30 seconds. The time counts down from the moment the participant starts the quiz. The participant is presented with a question with four possible answers. For each correct answer, the player gets extra points and additional time. A new question will appear immediately after choosing one of the answers to the previous question. The faster the correct answer is provided, the more points are awarded. If the player provides an incorrect answer, a new question is presented, but no additional time is added. The objective of the quiz is to attain the highest possible score. It can be achieved by answering as many questions correctly and faster than other participants. 5.3. The game finishes when the player runs out of time or when s/he answers all the questions. 5.4. The player will get their score, and place in the general ranking after finishing the quiz. 5.5. The contestants placed in the top nine on October 31, 2015 00:00 Brussels time will receive a prize. 5.6. EPOS vzw and the partners will not communicate details of individual results, with the exception of the results of the 10 winners. 6. Prizes for the winners 6.1. The winners will be personally contacted via email. The winners will be required to provide proof of their contact details, country of residence and age before Monday 30 November 2015. Minors are required to provide the proof of permission to have entered the quiz from their parents (or from a person that has legal guardianship). The winner forsakes the claim on the prize when this data is not provided, or when it is provided after the deadline. Once the data has been transmitted, Epos vzw will mail the awarded prize by registered post. 6.3. No cash alternative to the prizes will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and EPOS vzw reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice. 6.4. By accepting the prize, the winners of the competition grant EPOS vzw and their partner Europass Centres permission to reproduce and publish the winners’ names in the framework of communication about this competition, without any compensation and without any territorial or temporal limitation.
