My Name is... – Everyone begins standing in a circle. The first person
begins by saying “My name is and I like to (insert any hobby and act out a
motion from that hobby)”. The rest of the group says the person’s name and
repeats their hobby and motion. Continue around the circle until everyone
has shared their name and hobby.
Tortoise Tag- One person is ‘It’. If a player is tagged they become frozen
until they are tagged by another player. To avoid being tagged, players can
lay down on their backs with their hands and feet in the air (like a tortoise
who has rolled over on its back) for 10 seconds at most.
Paper Cup Towers- Students can work in teams or individually to use
paper cups to create towers. Their goal is to build the tallest tower they can,
but make it stable enough to not topple over.
Sharks & Minnows- Start with one person being the shark, all other
students become minnows. The shark starts in the middle of the play area
and tells the fish to come out, when the minnows slowly walk towards the
shark. At any point the shark can yell ‘Shark Attack!!’ and the minnows have
to run to the opposite boundary line without being tagged. If a minnow is
tagged they become a shark. The game continues until there are only one or
two more minnows, who can then become sharks in the next round.
Balloon in a BottleMaterials:
 2 empty plastic bottles.
 2 balloons
 Nail
Directions:
1. Poke a small hole in the bottle of one bottle using the nail. (If the
bottle crushes as you do this, try filling it completely full with water
and screwing the lid on tightly).
2. Put a balloon into the bottle, stretching the neck of the balloon around
the top of the bottle.
3. Place a balloon in the same way in the other bottle (don’t poke a hole
in this one!!).
4. Try to blow up the balloon in the bottle with the hole in it (you
shouldn’t be able to). Then try to blow up the balloon in the other
bottle (it should be way easier!).
Name Poems- Students build a poem using the initials of their name as the
first letter of each line.

Everybody’s It- When play begins, all players try to tag each other. If a
player is tagged they have to sit down for the remainder of the game. If two
players tag each other at the same time, they both have to sit down. The
game continues until only one player is left standing, they are the winner!
Popsicle Stick CatapultMaterials:
1. popsicle sticks
2. rubber bands
3. marshmallows or pom poms
4. plastic spoon
Directions:
1. Make a stack of popsicle sticks and rubber band them together on
each end.
2. Stack two popsicle sticks and rubber band them together on just one
end.
3. Pull the two popsicle sticks slightly apart and place the larger stack of
popsicle sticks in between them.
4. Rubber band the stack of popsicle sticks to just the upper popsicle
stick.
5. Rubber band a spoon to the upper popsicle stick.
6. Place a pom pom or marshmallow on the spoon and pull the spoon
down to launch it!
AdaptationsIndy 500- The group should be sitting in a circle, and counted off 1-4. Each
number is assigned the name of a car. The leader calls a name of a car and
those cars have to get up and run around the circle, the first person back to
their spot wins. The leader can also choose to call out car difficulties such
as: flat tire (hop around on one foot), run out of gas (crab walk), no muffler
(noisy), turbo boost (run!!).
Mummy Wrap- Split kids into pairs and give each student a roll of toilet
paper, then have them race to see who can wrap their mummy in toilet
paper the fastest. You can remind them that toilet paper rips quite easily or
allow them to discover it on their own.
Red Light, Green Light- One person is the stoplight and all other students
stand in a line about 15 feet away. When the stoplight calls GREEN, all
students can run. When RED is called everyone should stop. Any students
caught running on red are out. Goal is to make it to the stoplight.
Earth Ball- The goal of the group is to keep a beach ball or balloon in the
air for a specified number of hits without letting it hit the ground. The
students can just try or they can create a strategy, the only rule being that
one person cannot hit the ball twice in a row.
Animal Tag- One student volunteers or is assigned as ‘It’, they name an
animal to imitate. All players move like the animal called. When a player is
tagged they are out for the remainder of the round, and should sit on the
sidelines until a new round begin. Each player who become ‘It’ chooses a
new animal.

2. Add several drops of food coloring to the bottle, then break an AlkaSeltzer tablet into 3 or 4 pieces.
3. Drop the Alka-Seltzer into the bottle and watch it fizz! You can
