Coming to Seattle Children’s
Guest Services offers resources for a
smooth arrival, stay and departure.
You are coming to Seattle Children’s Hospital
for treatment, and it can be hard to know what
to expect.
They help with housing, transportation,
and information about hospital and
neighborhood services.
This photo book should give you a general idea
about the Seattle area, getting to the hospital
and what you can expect once you are at the
hospital. If you have questions or need help
with transportation or lodging, contact Guest
Services at 206-987-9330 or 1-866-987-9330.

They can help before you come to
Seattle and while you are here. You can

Guest Services can assist with:
Housing
• Information about bedside sleeping, RV parking, hotels or other housing
options including those that offer discounts to Children’s families, and the
Ronald McDonald House
Transportation
• Free Guest Services Shuttle to and from Children’s, the airport, train and
bus stations and local ferries. Call 206-987-RIDE (7433) or e-mail
[email protected]. Please reserve at least 24 hours in
advance.
• Information about the Green Line Shuttle to and from downtown, and a
shuttle to and from the University District
• Directions to the hospital – www.seattlechildrens.org or call 206-987-2226
Preparing for a clinic or hospital stay
• Visiting guidelines for parents, guardians, caregivers, siblings and other
visitors
If your child comes to Seattle on a medical transport
flight, you will land at the King County Airport, also
called Boeing Field. If you arranged a ride with
Children’s Guest Services, they will meet your plane
and bring you to Children’s.

If you stay at the Ronald McDonald House
If you fly into SeaTac Airport
The Ronald McDonald House has several
large living rooms and a shared kitchen.
The Seattle Ronald McDonald House is
a short walk from the hospital, in a quiet
neighborhood.
You will leave the plane and follow signs
to the Baggage Claim area.
You will take an escalator, stairs or
elevator to Baggage Claim.
You might take a short ride on an
underground train to get to Baggage
Claim.
You can pick up your checked luggage at
the Baggage Claim area.
This is a typical bedroom. Sheets and
towels are provided, but families must do
their own laundry.

If you fly into SeaTac Airport
Outdoor spaces
The hospital has several gardens, including a
sculpture garden, where families can spend quiet
time outdoors.
If you have arranged a ride with
Children’s Guest Services, they will
meet you outside of the Baggage
Claim area and help you into a hospital
shuttle van.
If you plan to take a cab to the hospital,
follow signs to the taxi pick-up area.
There is a large balcony outside the
Family Resource Center.
If you come by train or bus
Services in the neighborhood
Several grocery stores and a shopping
center are within walking distance or a
short bus ride from the hospital.

The hospital has three Starbucks coffee shops, and kitchen areas with microwaves,
refrigerators and vending machines. The Family Resource Center also has free coffee and tea.
The hospital driveway leads to the main
patient check-in areas.
The Inpatient Playroom has toys, books,
movies, crafts and games you can take to
your child’s room. It also has an outdoor
play area and special activities for patients
and siblings.
The Chapel and meditation room is
open 24 hours a day. It hosts regular
services and events for various faiths
and practices.

help you get an identification badge. They
also will tell you how to check in for your
appointment or stay.
The Family Resource Center has
lockers and private showers for
families. Soap and towels are provided.
Families can use the laundry room,
where machines and soap are free.
Other hospital services
The hospital has artwork and colorful
hallways and waiting areas to help you
and your child feel comfortable.
The hospital has a cafeteria with a grill and hot food at
mealtimes, a self-serve salad bar and other pre-prepared foods.

your room.
The Family Resource Center has two large gathering places where
families can relax, read or use the computers.
The Family Resource Center provides
hospital and health information, toiletries
and massage.

The unit coordinator, at the main desk on each unit, can answer
