Purpose Of Organization
Our team’s purpose is to provide a way for students to continue their baseball
careers in an organized fashion
We promote leadership and sportsmanship among our players and coaches
As a club sport, we also represent George Mason University and what the school
stands for while we are traveling as a team
Article Three

Name Of Organization
The name of this student organization shall be “Club Baseball”
Membership
Membership in this organization will not be restricted on the basis of race,
color, religion, ethnicity, national origin, disability, sexual orientation,
veteran status, gender identity, sex, or age.
To be an “active member (a player)”, one must:
Be an enrolled GMU student
Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater (per NCBA rules)
Pay membership dues each semester ($100/semester)
Be present at most (70% or more) practices, games, and travel events
Be an outstanding teammate and sportsman
Membership privileges may be revoked if any of these requirements are not met.
The President and Vice President will be in charge of enforcing these standardsalong with the consultation of the entire team.
No member will be exempt from any of these requirements
Other types of membership include: Coach, Special Assistant, Alumni Guest
Instructor. It is at the discretion of the President and Vice President to add or
remove membership positions.
Article Four
Officers
 President: Main Duties/Responsibilities1. Lead the team both on and off the field. The President must oversee the day-today management of the players, the finances, and the communication with other
schools. The President will very much fill the role of a player/coach, so he must
be able to manage a game while managing a team and his own performance
2. Be a proven leader and model student. The President must distinguish himself on
the field and in the classroom. There is no GPA requirement other than the 2.0 or
greater membership standard, however, this job will consume large amounts of
time, so great organizational skills are imperative
3. There is no set term length, however, it is preferred that the President is an
upperclassmen with one to two years remaining at GMU
4. The President will be voted on by the team and by current officers. It is required
that the player has held the position of Vice President for at least a semester prior
to the promotion
5. The President may be removed from office if he does not adequately fulfill the
duties of the position. This is to be voted on by all team members
 Vice President: Main Duties/Responsibilities1. Assist the president in all day-to-day management functions
2. Be the first point of contact between the players and the officers
3. Play an instrumental role in helping first time players assimilate to the team
4. Run the team’s IMLeagues page
5. Must hold the qualities and leadership abilities that would be expected from a
future president
 Secretary: Main Duties/Responsibilities1. Assist the President and VP with anything needed
2. Be a leader on the field
3. Help with recruiting new players
 Public Relations Officer: Main Duties/Responsibilities1. Run the team’s Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts
2. Play a major role in orchestrating all team social events
Advisor
 The primary advisor shall be a full time member of the faculty or staff at
George Mason University.
 The advisor will simply be the Director of Club Sports
Article Five
Elections
 When an officer is graduating/leaving the team, elections will be held to choose
the replacement
 Elections will be between 2-3 nominated players and will be determined by a
majority vote. Ballots will be counted by club officers
 Current officers may nominate players
 There will be a probationary period in which the newly elected officer will
shadow the officer in which they are replacing in order to learn of his
responsibilities
Article Six



Impeachment or Resignation
Should an elected officer fail to perform the responsibilities or abuse the
privileges of their elected position, the officer shall be subject to
impeachment and removal from their office
A vote will be held among team members after an officer repeatedly fails to
perform his duties. This vote will be majority rules
The same rules apply for electing new officers as in the previous section
Article Seven
Meetings



There will be no set meeting times. However, we have set practice times every
semester. All players must notify one of the officers of their absence prior to the
event
The President and VP will be in charge of running each practice, along with the
help of any coaches and/or instructors
Players must be present at 70% or more practices and games each semester, or
they may be subject to removal from the team
Article Eight

Dues will be $100 per player per semester. This number is subject to change
at the discretion of the President and VP
Article Nine


Finance
Amendments
If absolutely necessary, all officers will meet to discuss and possibly change/add
material in the constitution
Student Involvement must review all amendments in the same manner as a
completely new constitution
Attraction Ten Ratification
 This constitution shall become effective upon approval by a ¾ vote of the
membership, and the Program Coordinator for Student Organizations
