Position Purpose:
The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst develops business intelligence, from a
range of data sources, through business analysis, data modelling, reporting and
performance analysis, to inform business decisions, support performance
improvement and to enable stakeholders to meet business needs and
expectations.

Participate in the business intelligence
analytics process through:
 The design and implementation of
measurement reporting frameworks for KPI
monitoring, outcomes and impact
measurement, to support Service Delivery
and contribute to the overall effectiveness
of the MA strategy.
 Working with key stakeholders to provide
input to business requirements for the
design of a BI solution and/or interprets
business requirements and determines
optimum BI solution to meet needs.
 Providing analysis (including modelling, BI
analysis tools, methods and standards) for a
wide range of business requests, using data
in different formats and from various
platforms and sources.
Executives and management are supported in
strategic decision making by data and analysis
produced by Senior BI Analyst.
Relevant trends, capability and competencies,
identified by the Senior BI Analyst inform strategic
considerations.
Business requirements are clear, concise and
unambiguous and reports developed as a result of
these specifications meet the business needs.

Develop and maintain strong, collaborative
relationships with key internal stakeholders to
ensure analysis is relevant and expectations
are managed, resulting in high level customer
satisfaction and engagement.
Key internal stakeholders report high levels of

relationship they have with the Senior BI Analyst
Data, information and reports deployed are
accurate, high quality and fit for purpose.
Analysis and reporting to frontline staff is relevant,
actionable, timely, easy to understand and access.
Educate end-users of data, information and
reports, on how to interpret and use the data
correctly to meet their business needs.
End users of data agree, information and reports
produced by the Senior BI Analyst are informative,
actionable, easy to read, easy to access, and fit for

Communicate with non-technical users about

performance indicators (KPIs) of the business.
Senior BI Analyst’s work is informed by and builds
on the work of other MA business units.
Develop and maintain close relationships with

Provides input to standards and procedures

data, information and reports related to new

Data, information and reports produced by the
Senior BI Analyst are of high quality; accurate,
relevant, timely and fit for purpose.

Follow standard QA processes and support
team members in ensuring the quality of team
deliverables.
Accurate and thorough documentation of all work
processes, and operational reports which are
current, easy to understand and follow.
Participate in testing and/or monitor testing
process, to ensure data used for analysis is ‘fit
for purpose’. Collaborate to resolves issues
based on test results.
QA checklist is applied to all reports deployed by
the Senior BI Analyst and broader team.
Accurate and thorough data testing criteria and
processes are documented and adhered to,
resulting in improved data quality, accuracy and
reliability.

Recruitment information
Qualification, knowledge, skills and experience required to do the role










Proven, hands-on experience of developing/delivering BI reports using MS BI stack
(MSSQL2012/2014 + Excel + Power BI).
You have experience in using an end-to-end process in defining and documenting
business intelligence requirements (including data sources, metrics, dimensions) for a
diverse end user community.
Solid foundation knowledge of data architecture and modelling (e.g. Kimball
dimentional, 3NF, relational...).
Proficient T-SQL - able to write complex queries using views, joins, stored procedure,
temp table, fetch and cursor.
In-depth knowledge of the report development lifecycle, including developing business
and counting rules and proven ability in writing technical report specifications.
Develop scenarios to support requirements verification, UAT and Training efforts.
SSIS/SSRS/SSAS will be a bonus but not essential
5-7 years in similar role, extensive experience in business analysis for Business
Intelligence and Data Warehousing.
Tertiary qualification in computer science/mathematics or similar
Strong analytical mind.
Key challenges of the role


Using a range of tools and techniques to communicate analytical reports and insights
meaningfully to frontline staff and key stakeholders given the complexity of Service
Delivery (type of service provided, duration of intervention, funder and contractual
requirements) and individual client needs.
Continually building knowledge of the programs and services of MA, the not-for-profit
sector and funding requirements to enhance the analysis and insight provided to
business decision-makers so as to be able to provide timely, relevant intelligence to
improve strategic business decisions and meet business objectives.
