Free Fantasy Strategy Game
Kok.sepic.org
King of Kings is a completely computer moderated play-by-email game set in an ancient or
medieval world. Each player is in control of a tribe or nation in this world, governing all
decisions and leading it to either victory or defeat.
The game map is tiled into square provinces. Provinces provide tax income. You may invest
in their infrastructure and they are conquered and defended by troops. During a game turn, a
player may gain victory points for collecting the most wealth, showing great valour in battle
or maintaining the greatest army. The game ends whenever a player's fame points exceed the
fame point limit set for the game, or at the end of a pre-set game turn. The victor is the player
with the most victory points awarded.
Currently King of Kings is played through our host server http://www.spodcentral.org/~jontom/ . It offers full auto processing via email (for sending orders in and results
out).
The newest rules version 4.8 is now available in English, a somewhat older version 4.0 is
available in German. Since years now the number of German players have been too low to
start new game in German. If this changes we will reintroduce German as a language.
Amount of time and effort needed to play:
Rules and regulations for email submission: 1-2 hours
early turns: 10 minutes
late turns: 30 minutes

TurnViewer
Since the 2001 server version the game offers a continually improved TurnViewer, that is a
graphical user interface (GUI) to view game data, maps and turn results for the King of Kings
play-by-email strategy game.
Main Window with Player Selection Window
Features
The program window contains three bars on the top, a map area and scrollbars to the right and
bottom. It is sizeable. Primarily you will operate on the map, where Context Menus are
available. When clicking a menu entry to activate a command, a command window may pop
up somewhere on the screen, as e.g. the player selection window seen in the previous section.
On the menu bar (the second bar from the top of the window) you find the menus for Game,
View and Zoom.
Several views can be displayed in the View Window. These are Map, Battle Report, Error
Report, Victory Report and Orders. All except the map are text reports. The view can also be
changed by clicking on the appropriate button in the tool bar (third bar from above).
The map can be displayed at three zoom levels: 25%, 50% and 100%. Click on the command
entry in the menu to change the map zoom factor. The default setting is 25%.

Context Menus
Context Menus provide quick navigation through the gameturn information. By right-clicking
in a province, the Context Menu is invoked, from which you can access information about the
province, the terrain of that province and the owner of that province. For each selection, a
window displaying the information is popped up. These windows are hypertext capable, so
you can navigate from there to access further information. In addition you can left-click in a
province to update the details displayed to match the province clicked.
