Roesch Gets A Grip On POY Honors At
Tripoli Players Event
Storm's Golf Range Teaching Professional, David Roesch took home the crown at
the Wittek Golf Wisconsin Players Event at Tripoli CC on Tuesday. The former
Tripoli CC employee parlayed his course knowledge with some great golf to fire a
2-under-par 69. However Roesch's victory wasn't an easy one as he was forced to
take down WPGA Section Champion, Pat Steffes in a four-hole playoff to earn the
victory. In regulation Roesch needed some terrific golf just to get into the playoff,
as he closed with stretch of birdies on four of his final nine holes.
With the victory Roesch was able to secure the 2014 WPGA Member Player of
the Year honors. His year has been highlighted by several top finishes including
his second straight WPGA Match Play Championship back in May. Tuesday's win
also backs up a successful Monday as Roesch earned a trip to Pebble Beach after
finishing second at the TaylorMade ran TP Classic at Blue Mound G&CC.
In the other divisions of play James Gunsalus was able to earn low amateur
honors with a 77 and Kelly Kretz took home the top prize in the unaffiliated
professional division with a 74.
The WPGA would like to express our appreciation to the title sponsor of
Tuesday's event, Wittek Golf and representative Tony Clay. The company has
been a loyal supporter of the Wisconsin PGA for several years and also continues
to provide key tournament supplies throughout our season.
