the win today, Miami is 14-1 over its last 15 home games and 7-1 over its last eight home ACC games. • Miami’s victory over North Carolina gives the Hurricanes a 9-8 all-time series advantage. • The Hurricanes have now won four of their last five games. • The Hurricanes’ defensive starters were Anthony Chickillo, Calvin Heurtelou, Olsen Pierre, Tyriq McCord, Thurston Armbrister, Denzel Perryman, Raphael Kirby, Ladarius Gunter, Deon Bush, Nantambu-Akil Fentress, Artie Burns. • Miami’s offensive starters were Jon Feliciano, Shane McDermott, Nick Linder, Danny Isidora, Trevor Darling, Brad Kaaya, Clive Walford, Stacy Coley, Duke Johnson, Phillip Dorsett, Herb Waters. • Miami scored on its first offensive possession for the sixth time in the last eight weeks. The Hurricanes scored on their opening possession thanks to a 13-play, 84-yard drive, which was capped by a Duke Johnson touchdown run. The Canes have scored first in 13 of their last 14 games. • Miami’s first scoring drive spanned 7:10, which was its longest of the season. • Miami accumulated 322 yards of offense in the first half while limiting North Carolina to 57. Miami outdid North Carolina 219 to 21 yards on the ground, 103 to 36 yards through the air in the first stanza. Overall, Miami totalled 494 yards of offense with 295 yards on the ground and 199 through the air. • Miami recorded a season-high six sacks. It was the first time the Canes recorded as many sacks since Oct. 1, 2011 (seven, vs. Bethune-Cookman). • Miami’s 47 points are the most in an ACC game since scoring 52 against Duke on 11/24/2012. • Miami had dual 100-yard rushers (Duke Johnson, 177 and Joe Yearby, 104) for the third consecutive game, the first time doing so in school history INDIVIDUAL NOTES - OFFENSE • Duke Johnson recorded 177 rushing yards to pass James Jackson and Edgerrin James for second on the all-time rushing list (3,080 career rushing yards). • Johnson has recorded 100 or more rushing yards in five consecutive games. • Johnson scored a rushing touchdown for the eighth straight game. It is the longest such streak since Willis McGahee. (11 straight games in 2002). • Johnson’s 90-yard touchdown run tied the longest rush from scrimmage in Miami history (Jack Losch against Bucknell on 11/11/1955). • Johnson has now recorded 30 career touchdowns (25 rushing, three receiving, two kickoff return) placing him sixth on the all-time list. • Johnson ran for two touchdowns to tie Eddie Dunn with 25 career rushing touchdowns, which ranks seventh on the all-time list. • Johnson is now ninth in single-season all-purpose yardage with 1,260 yards. Johnson also ranks second on the single-season list after recording 2,060 yards in 2012. • Johnson became the second player in Miami history to eclipse 3,000 career rushing yards (Ottis Anderson 3,331). • Senior tight end Clive Walford recorded a season-high 89 receiving yards and the most since Dec. 28, 2013 (82 yards at Louisville). • Clive Walford is the first Miami tight end to record two touchdowns in the same game since Greg Olsen did so against Temple on Oct. 15, 2005. • Freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya finished the game by going 11-of-17 through the air. He also threw three touchdown passes. • Kaaya now has consecutive 57 pass attempts without an interception. • Kaaya eclipsed 2,000 passing yards. • Senior wide receiver Philip Dorsett recorded seven receiving yards to pass Andre Johnson for eighth on the all-time list in career receiving yards. • Joe Yearby recorded the first rushing touchdown of his career. • Jake O’Donnell and Tyre Brady recorded their first career receptions. INDIVIDUAL NOTES - DEFENSE • Deon Bush recorded his second career interception in the second quarter and his first since Nov. 2, 2013 at Florida State. • In the first quarter, Corn Elder recorded his first career sack and Artie Burns his second. It is the first time this season that two Miami defensive backs recorded sacks in the same game. • Denzel Perryman recorded 10 total tackles, nine of which were solo. • Jermaine Grace’s eight tackles tied his career high (vs. Cincinnati, 10/11/14). INDIVIDUAL NOTES - SPECIAL TEAMS • Sophomore punter Justin Vogel finished the game with four punts for 208 yards (52.0) and three punts inside-the-20. He also had three punts which surpassed 50 yards. • Vogel’s 52.0 punting average was a season-best.
