Clint Molloy (245)
A product of the Waubra Juniors, Cliffy as he is well known is a hard in and under onballer
who loves to jag some goals when resting forward. His loyalty has seen him play in 2
reserves premiership in 2007, 2011 and coach another in 2013 (champions).
Mark Molloy (220)
Like his brother Clint has played all his football at the Waubra. Wog (much to the dislike of
his mother) has played most of his footy as a highly skilled, quick and courageous forward
pocket player who consistently got to right spots to kick numerous goals across his career.
He has played in 3 reserves premierships in 2007, 2011 and 2013.
Tim Mullane (215) - Nominated
Speedy, good decision maker, brilliant kick and extremely consistent year to year performer.
Defensively very good and a great team player. Tim has been a very good footballer for a
long time. A few years a go Tim was renowned and feared for his elite speed. He has
developed his game as an onballer to now adding goal-kicking to his skill set. A premiership
player in 2006 and 2011.
Stuart Oliver (233) - Nominated
Apart from one season at Redan, Stuey has played all his senior football at Waubra, with a
lot of these while residing in Melbourne. Stuey is a courageous, disciplined defender who is
rarely beaten and can also go forward to create a fantastic leading Centre Half Forward.
Stuey played in both the 2006 and 2011 premierships.
Paul Dodds(200) - Nominated
Uncanny ability to break up the game. His speed, agility, and evasive skill set him apart from
most other players. Paul has also been able to have an impact in big games over the years.
Opposition clubs have always identified him as a dangerous player and one to shut down.
Premiership player in 2006 and 2011.
Danny Liston (202) - Nominated
Ball magnet. Great reader of the play and decision maker. Hard at it. Danny was
unbelievably consistent and he would average 30+ touches every week. Highly respected
both within the club and across the whole league. Premiership player in 2006 and 2011.

Brad Beselar
Very light frame but had outstanding evasive skills. Probably take credit for Stevie J and his unique
use of the footy, with budge being able to do some pretty remarkable feats with the footy. Very
good player at Waubra for a number of years.
David Amaterstein
Known for having a good time of the field Wiggy has played well over 150 games for the club in both
the reserves and seniors. An extremely disciplined full back who is rarely beaten, Wiggy captained
the reserves premiers and champions side in 2013 and despite getting on in age is still an important
part of the twos success.
Cain Moran
Smooth moving backman who read the play extremely well, quiver was well known for drifting
across packs. Was also extremely handy up forward and was a key member of the 2007 and 2011
reserves Grand Final teams.
Shaun Mullane - Nominated
Absolute Class, brilliant field kick on both sides, hard at it but also damaging on the outside.
Dangerous goal-kicker. Shaun has been an inspirational leader that was integral in Waubra's success.
He would always lift a gear when the team needed. Senior Premiership captain in 2006 and 2011.
George Russell - Nominated
Massive workrate and a willingness to compete. Amazing tackler and follow up work. George is
highly respected and has stamped himself as one of the best Ruckman in the league for nearly 10
years. His athleticism in both the Ruck and in marking contests have provided many highlights. Been
an important part of the clubs success over the years. 2006 and 2011 premiership player.
Nic Moran - Nominated
One of the most disciplined defenders/ruckman you would see. Give him a role or a job for the day
and he was sure to do everything in his power (and more) to do it. He was rarely beaten and in the
later years was given some big jobs. Boogers was a member of the 2011 premiership team and is a
true clubman.
Lee Brown - Nominated
Elite Kick, Brilliant hands, smart and powerful. Not many have had as big of an impact on a club as
Lee. 3 x 100 Goal-kicker, and respected by all within the league. Uncanny ability and his record
speaks for itself. Premiership player in 2006 and 2011.
Leith Pellisser - Nominated
Great reader of the play and was very good on the ground for a tall player. Leith was extremely good
at adjusting to situations and opponents. He nearly always took the best key forward and was
regarded as the best key defender in the league when at his peak. Premiership player in 2006 and
2011.
Waubra Football Club 100 Games (2000 -2015)
Tom Nijam - Nominated
One of the most improved players seen at the Waubra Football Club. During the early days Nij was
classified as a fringe player within the senior team , but through hard work has established himself
as a very good on-baller who is extremely hard it, has great hands and is a penetrating left foot kick.
Was a member of the 2011 premiership side.
John Coleman - Nominated
Brilliant Kick on both sides. Excellent mark with amazing stretch. John is an absolute natural
footballer. He possesses so much class and during his career at Waubra added extra dimensions to
his game which elevated him to one of the best the club has had. 2006 and 2011 premiership player.
Steven Biggin - Nominated
Very smart, extremely cool under pressure and one of the best decision makers in this team. Provide
great direction on field and always thought of the team first. Steve is one of the most reliable players
in this team. He had a calming influence out on the ground and in the big games generally
performed well. 2006 and 2011 (reserves) premiership player.
Lachlan Oliver - Nominated
Hard running, fit, determined and team orientated player. Lachlan performed well in big games. He
was the ultimate professional and had a very strong defensive side to his game. He also had a
presence on the ground through his physicality.
James Rushton - Nominated
Extremely good at reading the play and sets up the team from the back half. Has a penetrating left
foot kick. Jimmy over the years developed into an extremely reliable player who is one of the first
picked every week. Premiership player in 206 and 2011.
Matt Menhennet
Probably the best bloke to ever use his voice on the ground followed by inspirational huddle
addresses. Very solid typical back pocket player who would follow instructions to the letter.

Daryl Bourke
Loves a bit of confrontation and not afraid to throw as many arms and elbows as possible.
Strong defender that rarely got beaten, left his best work to footy trips. Was a member of
the 2007 and 2011 reserves premierships sides.
Luke Molloy
Funnily enough played some of best games after a long week in the truck!! Tough as nails
and used his strength to clear the packs for others as well as providing clearances. Moved
to full forward at times with much success in later years. Luke was a member of the 2007
premiership side.

Michael Somers
Micky bang bang!! Had to play at Waubra given he was dating a Molloy, ran all day and skilful player,
could read the play well to get in the right positions. Also was renowned for doing his best work
after midnight. Was a member of the 2007 reserves premiership side.
Ben Clark
Not many ran a straighter line than Ben, solid as a rock in defence. Birdy was a man of few words but
on field was well renowed for running through brick walls for his team and his teammates. He was
key member of the 2007 reserves premiership player.
Adam Jarvis
A forward pocket specialist in his early years, Jarv loves nothing more than a goal. Known for his left
foot kick, Jarv recently spent time down back setting up play and on ball delivering lace out kicks to
the burly forwards. For his size is very handy overhead and was a member of both the 2011 and
2013 premiership sides.
Sam Clark
Another one of the Clark family who has been a great asset both on and off the field. Dirty Bird is a
great reader of the play with great hands who could really tear a game apart up forward, steady the
backline when back and compete fiercely when in the ruck. Dirty was rewarded with a premiership
medal in the undefeated 2013 year.
Tom Cullinan
Tommy is a player well respected by all his peers for his great persistence and want to play the best
footy he can. An extremely hard at it on baller who can supply run of half back Tommy has improved
every year since exiting under 18’s. He was a key member of both the 2011 and 2013 premiership
sides.
Matt Gallagher
A tough utility player, gags can play back, forward or on the ball and defiantly doesn’t shirk an issue
and also loves a goal. Most famously known for his appearance on the TV show ’Farmer w.ant a wife’
gags has played in all reserves flags in 2007, 2011 and 2013 and along with his family is a great
contributor of the field
Matthew Clark - Nominated
Strong bodied, long kicking Fwd. Always provided a strong contest on the ball. Matt covered much of
the workload in the forward line in the early 2000's and then was an integral part of a very potent
forward line working alongside some other key forwards in the premiership year. Had a big presence
on the ground and a popular figure. 2006 premiership player.
Scott Baker
Would give his all, as he still does now. Liked to make use of the new training room facility at
Waubra on training nights. Would run all day providing contest after contest. Has been a great
contributor of the field and served as football manager for the last 3 years.

Aaron Gleeson
Only had the one season but capped it off with a best on ground in the GF and a few stitches to go
with it, courtesy of Joel Adams!! Very classy and outstanding work rate who is has a very
successful last 3 year at Torquay.
Ash Whelan
Arriving at the club in 2011, Wheels was an extremely important player in the premiership year
often taking on and beating the best midfielders in the competition. The extremely courageous
tagger/back pocket player was known for always getting the job on Andy ‘Hollywood’ McKay and
coming of the winner.
Ben Naylon
Nails was a very key figure in the 2006 premiership year, going on to kick 5 goals in the grand final
after a terrific finals series. A strong mark, especially one on one and a booming kick, Nails was
also known for having a massive set of calves and celebrating very hard post 2006 victory.
Brad Maxwell
Elite Left foot kick. Strong mark, strong in the core and extremely damaging. Brad had a brilliant
left foot kick and when on song could change the course of a match. Strong in the hips, and in the
air he had all the attributes. Arguably the player with the most ability that the club has had. A 2006
Premiership
Clint McIntyre
Clint was a small classy forward who always seemed to be in the right positions and knew where
the goals were. The 2006 Premiership player had two year at the club and with the nickname
‘Slacker’, wasn’t known for tearing up the track on a Tuesday night.
Dean Kelly
Mid-forward who was extremely dangerous and could change the course of the match. Dean had
a big impact in his year of footy. He was a great one on one player who also kicked 40 odd goals.
He was heavily tagged by opposition teams. He also went on to be our first representative in a VIC
Country game and got in the best players.
Gav Miller
An extremely hard at it player. He had amazing strength in a contest low to the ground. Played
well in big games. Gav had a profound effect on the team in his first year at the club and played a
major part in winning the 2006 Premiership.
Jason Allen
Read the play extremely well. He was hard and an excellent decision maker. Jason was a very
adaptable player. Not only could he play tall or small he also had the ability to move into the
forward line and have an impact. Previous coach in 2013 and 2014.

Josh Carracher
Very classy player who was known for given good on the lip but was very quiet off. Played in the
pre-premiership years and with his silky skills and pace set the play up beautifully from the half
back line.
Mark Hynes
Ever reliable defender who was extremely competitve. Mark had the ability to shut down
opponents as well as providing rebound with his long left foot kick. In the early 2000's he played a
pivotal role in the last line of defence. Was highly regarded across the league.
Michael Sordello
A very strongly built backman in his early days at the club, Sordy was a key player in the 2006
premiership year. Skilled on both sides, good overhead and a big motor, he gave plenty of run of
the backline. Later in his career he became a very handy lead up forward who like all ex backmen
always enjoyed kicking a goal.
Mick Hynes
Solid as a rock, great pair of hands and read the ball very well. Used to drive many attacks from
defence. Previous coach with a great knowledge of the game who has gone onto to be a successful
Coach at both East Point and now a developing Rokewood.
Nick Lawerence
Known as skinny, the nuggetty well built backman came to Waubra from Daylesford and in his first
season played an important part in the 2011 Grand Final. Extremely courageous, skinny often cam
of second best when putting himself in positions not many others would.
Nick Sullivan
Hard, courageous, highly respected. Nick had a ferocious attack on the ball and was totally
fearless. Extremely competitive player who gave his all. He was very flexible player who had the
ability to inspire his team-mates and change the course of a game. A 2011 premiership player.
Paddy Ryan
Superb mark, skilful with enormous courage. Paddy had an uncanny skill of taking pack marks
when often out of position or undersized. No-one read the ball in the air better and often had to
absorb much of the pressure in the forward line. Extremely consistent player who was respected
by all his team-mates.
Paul Kinna
Big Power Forward who had good hands and a deceptively big leap. He was an unbelievable kick at
goal. Paul had a big presence on the ground and combine that with his football ability it then made
him a very valuable footballer for the club. 2006 premiership player.

Phil Amoore
Skill machine, had exceptional vision and ability to read the footy. Waubra probably didn’t see his
best, more likely would have been from his days at Sandringham, but a class footballer who
coached in the 2000’s and was part of the 2007 reserves premiership team.
Phil McDonald
A very natural footballer. A hard nosed in straight at it player with no frills who read the play
extremely well. Not only was he a determined player he also possessed that class and clear
decision making. The courage he showed in the 2011 Preliminary final and the week leading into
the Grand Final will always be remembered.
Rod Stepnell
Hard at it, determined, competitive and rarely lost a 'one on one'. Absolute team player. Rod had
amazing closing speed and his ability to spoil the marking contest was as good as any. Often got
the big jobs and over the years he would have hardly been beaten against his direct opponent.
Tim Boyle
The ex Hawk came to the club early 2013 and has nursed his body through and still playing in
2015. A great set of hands, ability to know and protect the drop of the ball and for a tall forward
supplies pressure and keeps his feet. His best games have been against good opposition which
demonstrates his true class
Tom Nash
Came to the club in 2011 as a young 19 year old and is now in the leadership group and very well
liked respected player. Known as the ‘dreamboat’, Nashy had his best year at the club in 2014
where he was a very effective tagger who racked up possessions when set loose. A dedicated
clubman and 2011 premiership player who will continue to go from strength to strength.
Tony Mirabella
Great Kick, Smart Lead, Good on the ground, terrific goal sense. Tony kicked nearly 70 goals in a
year and kicked mid 40's in a premiership year. He was able to play many roles from being part of
a two-pronged attack to being the main target. He was an invaluable member of the forward line.

Danny Liston (2000)
Like his football was very passionate and demanded high standards of his players. He was extremely
knowledgeable on the game and was well known for his bluntness and short fuse. His 3 quarter time speech at
Ballan was extremely memorable.
Phil Amoore (2000)
Had a great knowledge of the game and was very passionate about the club and his footy. Continued playing
after coaching and was part of the 2007 reserves premiership, before being a match day assistant for a
number of years.
Paul Aikman (2001-02)
Was a playing Coach who was well organised and had a great knowledge of the game. Was a very good player
and club person for the Ballarat Football Club before coming to Waubra and since leaving has coached
Dunnstown and is a 3 time premiership assistant coach at the North Ballarat VFL side.
Mick Hynes (2003)
A demanding coach who was brought a lot of professionalism to the group and was passionate about
improving players. Coached the club pre 2000 before returning to coach at North Ballarat. After Waubra went
on to coach at East Point, the Ballarat umpires and is now coaching a much improved Rokewood.
Shane Skontra (2003-07, 2010-12)
Interleague Coach 2012-13. A very good player whose career was cut short by injury. As a coach his planning
was meticulous and he could manage many ego's and personalities. Has a great knowledge of the game and
was well respected (sometimes feared) by all players. He is a new aged coach where this generation needs
more hand holding than previous, but he guided many players and still does.
Cameron Landry (2008)
Extremely knowledgeable coach who knows and understands the game extremely well. Came to the club in
the twilight of his career after a stellar career with Lake Wendouree where he only last weekend made the
team of the past two decades. A dedicated clubman who once retired helped out when needed and came back
to help the reserves win the 2013 premiership.
Steve Biggin (2008)
A previous Learmonth Coach and 2006 premiership player and assistant coach who like his Football was very
level headed, knowledgeable and cool in a crisis. After coaching continued playing and was part of the 2011
reserves premiership. A great clubman who has always helped out when the club has needed it
Paul Jennings (2009)
A coach that gave his heart and sole to the club. Was passionate about getting the best out of his players and
developing the younger players. He loves his football and since leaving the club has gone on to coach
Dunnstown and is now an Assistant Coach at roosters.
Jason Allen (2013-14)
Was an assistant to Skontra in 2012 and being married to a Gallagher fitted straight into the club. Had an
extremely difficult job of coaching from the field and led by example by the way he played. Before Waubra was
captain and multiple premiership player for Riddell in the RDFL. Unfortunately fell short in both seasons two
prelim defeats.

Kelly Amoore – 194 Games
Kelly is a linchpin on the netball court with her skilful play in both attack and defence, as well as
her versatility to play as a goalie when needed. Dominant, fearless, determined and tough, Kelly is,
and always will be, one of the greatest players to take the court for the Waubra Netball Club.
Lisa James – 120 Games
Definitely the toughest player to have played with Waubra thus far. Her two handed intercepts
around the player catches her opponents unaware over and over. Lisa bleeds for the blue and
white and will fight to the end ( and be the last standing )! Finals and Grand final player over the
dominating years at Waubra and still a valued member of our beloved club.
Megan Clark – 92 Games
Megan is a dynamic player renowned for her explosive power, quick hands and her fierce
competitive nature. Megs played the game with great intensity and passion, and was always
covered in a bucket load of sweat!
Peta Byrne (Lucas) – 15 Games
A formidable target in any goal circle, with her height, deadly accuracy and elegant shooting style.
Peta proved herself to be a standout shooter and a real handful for opposition defenders.
Kelly Moran – 278 Games
The best junior to have come through the ranks at Waubra to the seniors thus far. Kelly’s height
and accuracy has been the major headache for many opposing teams over her career. Kelly has
lead Waubra to many finals and a Grand final appearances over the clubs dominant years and has
always played a major role.
Amanda Sordello (McGreehan) – 16 Games
Amanda was another tall, dominant goal shooter to have graced the courts at Waubra. Accuracy,
height and pure determination were just some qualities Amanda possessed.
Donna Broadbent – 52 Games
Donna was a physically strong and athletic mid courter who never backed off in any pressure
situation. Played in the 2005 premiership year and was known for being extremely fit and hard at
the ball.
Chantelle Cahir (Allgood) – 22 Games
It took no time at all for Chantelle to adapt her basketball skills to the netball court. Opposing
goalies found it hard to predict her uncanniness to find the ball from seemingly ungettable
situations. Channy was athletic, wirey and downright amazing to watch!
Waubra Netball Club (2000 – 2014)
Hana Baker (Cleary) – 65 Games
Put Hana in any position on the court and she will make a difference to your team. Hana is
adaptable to all situations and oozes all class. Han likes to lead by example and will do all she can
to lift her side. Han is balanced and looks effortless when driving the ball from defence to our
attacking players. Han has great ability to get up for the high ball and bring it down with grace.
Sonia Mullane – 27 Games
Nothing but class! Sonia’s poise and balance on the court was something to behold. Played a
pivotal role in the finals and the 2011 Grand final. Sonia could be as cool as a cucumber under
immense pressure and pin point a beautiful pass balancing on one leg while looking the other way!
Poetry in motion in every sense of the word.
Brydie Kilday – 45 Games
Brydie is a dynamic and athletic mid-courter consistently putting in strong performances in the
wing attack / Wing defence positions.
Belinda Hynes (Molloy) – 115 Games
A smart and athletic midcourter, Belinda was known for her ability to read the play, create
turnovers and cover a lot of ground across court.
Katrina Griffiths – 26 Games
One of the most adaptable centre court players to have played for Waubra. Could run all day as a
centre, had a creative feed as a wing attack and was resilient and tough in wing defence. Kat had
great knowledge of the game and could adapt to all types of players she played against.
Brooke Brown (Walters) – 26 Games
Brooke was another powerful goaler whose height, skill and accuracy in the ring proved to be a
challenge for the opposition. Brooke played a pivotal role in the 2005 Grand Final
Andrea Nolan (Collins) – 28 Games
Another tenacious player to have played for our great club. Andrea also converted from basketball
to play netball and combined the two sports with the same trademarks. Drea could read the play
better than anyone and would own the goal circle when defending. Opposing players just found it
all too hard to play against her and would leave the court wondering how to overcome her
dominance.
Anthea Stevens – 65 Games
Playing in defence, Anthea is well known for her athleticism, aerial intercepts, dogged
determination and versatility to cover all three defensive positions with a never say die attitude.
Waubra Netball Club (2000 – 2014)
Narelle Hill – 34 Games
Narelle was a dominant goalie at her time at Waubra. Rally wasn’t blessed with height but made
up for it with her creativity in the ring. Rally was hard to contain and once she had the ball in her
hands she was deadly accurate. Rally also didn’t shy away from a hard contest and always gave her
best every time she stepped out on the court.
Emma Brown – 118 Games
Emma possesses persistent defending skills and is always tight marking in the circle. Em remains
one of the most dependable players to have played for Waubra.
Danielle Place (Shortal) – 25 Games
Danielle was an influential playmaker through the centre court and an integral member of the
2005 Premiership. Being from a basketball background Danielle adapted well to the game.
Jane Douglass – 65 Games
Jane is a determined and tenacious midcourter, who has been blessed with natural ability and can
easily change the pace of a game. Her uncanny ability to read the game as well as her sense of
timing with circle edge feeds into the shooters is instinctive.
Melissa Collins
Melissa was a tactical coach who was straight to the point. She thought a lot about match ups on
the court and played players in their most dominant position to most suit the team. Melissa
coached our one and only senior netball premiership in 2005.
This evening came about due to the fact the club had lost their records pre 2004. The
original plan for the night was to recognise players who had given great service to club
through playing over 100 games at the club. Through finding data in the Ballarat Courier
from 2000 to 2003 we came up with reasonably accurate records of games played. It was
decided that as the year 2000 is the start of a new century and millennium that we would
use this as a start date.
It was then decided that due to the great success of club during this time that it would be a
good idea to come up with a best team for this period. Like the selection of any team, there
is always going to be debate and different opinions. The 38 footballers and 20 netballers
selected on this list according to the panels of 5 (plus a chairmen) where all considered
closely for selection. The team is based on the footy/netball played at the Waubra Football
Club and selection panel wanted an even balance team which could easily play tomorrow.
