SPORTS AND RECREATION
The month of August was a super busy month with a lot going on. We had FSIN soccer for
youth, which we had thirty two kids participating @ Atahkakoop First Nation for the 2016 FSIN
Youth Championships. I would like to take this opportunity to commend all our athletes for
trying hard, and hope you had fun! Thanks to all the Coaches, Organizers, and Chaperones for
entertaining our youth and bringing them home safely. Hiy hiy!

In July, Moosomin Muddguzzlers hosted their Annual Quad Rally. Over 100 riders came out to
participate during this outdoor recreational event. Would like to thank all the visitors that came
from near and far to support this event. A big thanks to Preston Weenie and the Volunteers for
putting on this years’ Annual Quad Rally.

MOOSOMIN MEN’S SOCCER TEAM
We also wrapped up this summer’s youth soccer league which was big success. Five First
Nations participated in the league Moosomin, Little Pine, Poundmaker, Mosquito and
Sweetgrass. Age categories targeted were ages 13 & under, 10& under, and 8 under. Each
reserve had chance to host each week. Four sets of jerseys for all age categories were
purchased thru grant applications written on behalf of Moosomin First Nation.
A family day @ Blue Mountain was sponsored by kanaweyimik, which turned out highly
successful. Moosomin Youth and Adults also got jerseys and ball equipment for the ball teams.
Adult social nights will be added in the program starting in late September, among other
programs for the fall and winter.
Moosomin First Nation, along with Sports & Recreation continue to assist our band youth and
adults as they strive to succeed in the field of Sports.

LANDS
Sept 13th 2016
Lands Report for September 2016
Greetings from the lands department,
Just an up-date from the projects the lands department was working on for 2016, in August the lands
department started on a haying project, due to the shortage of hay lands the department cut and baled
on a share bases with band members that had access to hay fields.
The lands department was to start a farming project but due to the equipment being damaged by some
band members that had no experience with heavy equipment, the project came to a complete halt.
So far the Lands Department had purchased the following equipment
2006 Massey Ferguson 7485- Front Wheel assist Tractor.
2004 MacDon Mower Conditioner (Haybine)
2006 New Holland Round baler.
2014 Heavy Hitter post Pounder.
1985 2290 case tractor with duels. (Purchased through Treaty Land Entitlement)
2000 case 4WD tractor (Acquired from Public Works)
16ft John Deere Disc.
2014 John Deere track loader skid steer
32 foot Model 322 trailer
There was some fields that were reverted back to the Moosomin First Nation that the lands Department
was going to break and sow to Alfalfa , due to the equipment being damaged this project was put on
hold till 2017.
We still have a lot of concerns with loose livestock, one suggestion is if they are not claimed or put in
proper areas of confinement then the first Nation will have all stray animals that are a hazard to the
community impounded, as the First Nation is not liable for injuries caused by stray animals.
3
Please note no band member will be allowed use of the band equipment due to some equipment being
damaged and not repaired, As the Band policy states only the Bands personnel will be allowed to use
the equipment.
