Paddleball Tournament by Jake Fishbein
Paddleball is taken very seriously at Camp Menominee, so all the best players were out to take the crown
as Camp’s best player. JONAH WEISS, ANDREW and DAVID BLECHMAN, JUSTIN
SCHOENEMAN, LEVI SCHULMAN and JAKE FISHBEIN were the outstanding players. The first
round games were played and BRETT WEISS advanced to play his older brother Jonah. Jonah was the
overall number one seed going into the tournament but Brett, the major underdog, managed to defeat
Jonah. Brett also continued on to beat STEVE KANEFSKY to meet up with a top seed, Jake Fishbein in
the semi finals. Jake was a heavy favorite going into the best two out of three series. Jake lost the first
game in a close battle but came out on top in the second and third games to advance into the final. On the
other side of the draw, Levi, by default, advanced to the semi final because David was out of camp for a
few days. Andrew defeated Justin in another competitive battle. This left Andrew to play against Levi in
the semi finals, and the winner of that would then progress into the finals with Jake. Andrew won the first
game against Levi, lost the second, but managed another win during the third round. This meant, two best
Paddleball players were due to play against each other, Andrew and Jake in the best two out of three
series. Jake won the first game 37-35 in a game up to 21 and then he also won the second game in a blow
out 21-14 win. Jake’s officially Camp Menominee’s number one Paddleball player. If you think you have
what it takes to beat him, make sure you enter the next Paddleball tournament! Good luck, you’ll need it!
Menominee Vs Timberlane Senior Soccer by Josh Ingram
Friday 27th June was the day that Camp Menominee hosted Camp Timberlane for an afternoon of good,
clean fun! One of the sports being played between the two camps was soccer. Timberlane are known for
having an exceptionally talented soccer team, so my team and I knew it was going to be a tough day.
The first goal of the afternoon was scored by Menominee’s center midfielder RYAN BLUM, it was
unfortunately an own goal. A Timberlane through ball caused problems for the Camp Menominee
defense and Ryan poked the ball past his own goalkeeper. Sadly, this would set the tone for the
afternoon as Timberlane went on to thrash Menominee 7-0. Despite the disappointing score line, the
Menominee squad remained in good spirits and kept the game clean and without incident. Star players
were ETHAN WAGMAN, JARED LOIBEN and MAX SHAPIRO.
Menominee Vs Timberlane Ultimate Frisbee 13 and over by Sam Maetzold
It was a sunny day up in the Northwoods on Friday 27th June. Today was the day a friendly game of Ultimate Frisbee
between Timberlane and Menominee would be played. It was hosted by Menominee and it was a very intense match
for both teams. Menominee were coached by Frisbee champion Sam Maetzold who had a few wise words to say to
warm up his team. Timberlane may have had the upper hand during the game but our boys never gave up. MAX
SHAPIRO, JAKE HERMAN and MAZ PTASZNIK scored for Menominee. However, ADAM SAGERMAN, ISAAC
WEISS and JACK KLOEPPEL had outstanding blocks. The final score was 16-5 in Timberlane’s favor. This match
was played very well with much intensity and energy. I tip my hat to both teams for a great game. This game will go
down in Menominee history for being unforgettable.
Menominee Vs Timberlane Archery/Riflery 12 and under by Tom Fallon
Archery: The Archery competition at Timberlane was a competitive one. So many of their boys, as
well as our boys, put in all of their effort to try and win the meet for their team. WALKER NELSON
and AJ TURNELL were both the stand out shooters. AJ won both of his rounds with flying colors.
The Menominee boys scored successfully until the final round when Timberlane stepped and took the
lead.

Riflery: The Riflery competition started with LEVI PASIKOV bringing in a great score at the start
of the round. DYLAN SCHWARTZ, ZACH POLISNER and AJ TURNELL all had a fantastic
round too. I was being blown away by the young boys shooting so well, especially in the final round.
Lucky Canteen Number 81. The final scores were 178 to Menominee and 215 to Timberlane. To
anybody who experienced these two competitions whilst they were being played, it was clear that
even though Timberlane may have beaten us, every single boy was a winner in their own right!
